LOS ANGELES -- Britney Spears filed for divorce Tuesday from Kevin Federline, officials said.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court filing cites "irreconcilable differences," said court spokeswoman Kathy Roberts.

Spears, 24, married Federline, 28, in 2004. They have a 1-year-old son, Sean Preston, and an infant son who was born Sept. 12. The divorce papers identify the baby as Jayden James Federline.

A message left with Spears' attorney, Laura Wasser, was not immediately returned.

Spears married Federline eight months after ending a 55-hour Las Vegas marriage to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander. Her second marriage has provided endless fodder for tabloids, which have speculated frequently that the union was in trouble.

Calls left for Federline's representatives also were not immediately returned.

Well, it's back to the trash bins for Federline, as the "c'mon baby, let's have another kid!" maneuver failed miserably. I do see them reconciling briefly ala Pam and Tommy Lee Scumbag, but it shouldn't last. Federline will probably be condemmed to an Entertainment Hell where even reality shows won't touch him (though he should get plenty of alimony money from Brit). As for Spears, she has a lot of ground to gain back after degradating herself in the last couple of years, and it's doubtful either the teenybopper crowd or perverted middle-aged fans will take her back. Her best bet is to take some acting lessons and reinvent herself in movies, though nothing like that Crossroads shit. In short, she's just made the best career move possible...:D

I don't have any use for either of them but I am starting to get underdogitis for K-Fed. I think that he fell for the trap of getting hit on by the cute millionaire singer and gave up everything for that lottery ticket and was rich for a while but lost his soul in the process. He used to be a simple dancer but now he is reviled for being her husband.

He left his pregnant girlfriend and his kid for Brittney but she knowingly participated in the process too. I don't get why people (like Rosie O'Donnell) are celebrating her leaving him as if she is better than he is. She isn't.

You know, the more I read up on this stuff the more I see the reasoning behind parents choosing spouses for their children.

I mean think about it, people choose the people whom they think they deserve, whereas your parents pick who THEY think you deserve. Depending on the time of your life, your opinion of what you deserve changes, whereas your parents (depending on your relationship with them) always have high standards regarding who they'd like you to be paired up with.
