View Full Version : "Castlevania" Teaser Poster Revealed!

Hey everybody,

I was doing my usual scouting around and I came across the new teaser poster for Paul W. Anderson's next video-game to film adaption and that is for the hugely popular hit, "Castlevania". He's been working on it for a bit now and it seems to be coming along. I'm not sure as to who the casting is for the movie as nothing was ever announced but it apparently is headed for a strong R-rating when it finally releases early next year.

I have to honestly say that I'm looking forward to this because Paul has never failed when it comes to taking a game and turning it into a motion picture. Now I know that most of you are going to slice at me with pitchforks for saying that but "Mortal Kombat" & "Resident Evil" were absolutely kick-ass.

So anyways, below is a kinda low-resolution shot of the teaser poster. Nothing revealing at all but cool nonetheless. In ase you don't know the story behind the game series, here's a blurb on the plot:

The Castlevania series is about a war between the enchanted family bloodline of the Belmonts and Dracula. Almost every hundred years, Dracula is resurrected and it is up to the Belmonts to defeat him before he unleashes his wrath on the entire world.

We'll have to see how Anderson does but I'm certainly looking forward to it for sure. Check it out below!

I forsee a long and heated discussion about this! :D

Thanks Davey...you rock too! :D I'm going to stick to my grounds because I loved "Mortal Kombat" and so did most. However, "Resident Evil" could have been much better but I still enjoyed it.

The only real disaster that I feel Anderson ever did was "AVP".

I think he and Uwe Boll have a running contest to see who can make the shittiest video game adaptation. Looks like Paul's pulling out all the stops on this one.

Resident Evil was a lot of fun, the sequel sucked but the first one i really enjoyed. Since i have never played this videogame I could see myself enjoying this movie.

I liked Mortal Kombat, but the only reason I finished Resident Evil all the way through is that I kept saying to myself "Honestly, it can't get much worse than this, can it?" And boy was I wrong. I think I may have even liked it less than AVP.

If he doesn't, and only directs, it will be average.

Hmmmmmm....Mortal kombat is a faovirte among me and my friends, just for mindless action fun (jjez, how many times does Sonja say "Wheres Kano?"). Everyhting else was just alright for me....although Alien Vs. predator, although somewhat cool, really pissed me off! (2 rated r series turned into pg-13...NO!)

So i dont know, maybe catch it on dvd

Considering the only two video game to movie adaptations that I absolutly loathed were Bloodrayne and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and considering Anderson had nothing to do with either, I'll go ahead and give Castlevainia the benifit of the doubt that I might like it.

Wasn't Anderson's next movie the Deathrace 3000 remake?

Was there really a calling for an adaptation of this video game? What . . . Van Helsing wasn't bad enough so they had to make another monster hunter movie, this time based on a game made famous by Nintendo? And the poster isn't all that either - just a shot of a freakin' castle with the mention of Dracula. Uninspiring.

The poster looks good except for all that "FROM THE GUY THAT KILLED RESIDENT EVIL, AND THE ALIEN AND PREDATOR seires!" on the top for all to see. That kinda ruins it.:p

...with RE2 and AVP his script writing skills are sinking to Uwe levels of suckage fast. Im hoping he took more then 2 days to write this one.

That's definitely a fake/fanmade poster, if you look closely you'll see it's a modified poster for Constantine(same text style aswell) with a castle in it, the tagline is what really gave it away for me though because Anderson jokingly said in a recent interview that "you could basically call it Dracula Begins".

As for the film itself, i'm looking forward to it i've liked all of Anderson's movies thus far and Event Horizon is one of my all time favorites, if nothing else the film will be visually impressive on all fronts with some good action set-pieces.

PS: while Anderson is certainly not a perfect filmmaker by any means, Uwe Boll doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as him, and i don't give a shit how flawed AVP may be(and it is) it's still miles above anything Boll has ever committed!

EDIT: Nevermind bout the poster being fake/fanmade, just caught the news on bloody-disgusting, but i still highly doubt that'll be the final tagline.

There are actually people in the world who have yet to be disappointed by a Paul W. S. Anderson movie? And you aren't related to him?

As disappointed as I have been by Anderson's films, they usually have one or two scenes that are pretty cool (and I will shamefully admit I enjoyed both of the Mortal Kombat flicks). Uwe Boll is not so much a bad director, as much as he is demon spawn from hell sent to lower the standards of film. In the battle between Boll and Anderson's suck factor, Boll dominates. I really just hope the movie is R-rated in order to do the movie justice.

Some people around here, well, I'd say it but I would get banned. I'll say that some people apparently need to brush up on their reading and comprehension skills.

As much as Anderson is hated, I think it is genuinely surprising that someone would actually like everything he has been involved with.

The thing that pisses me off is that unlike Uwe who snaps up any POS project he can get his hands on, Anderson often gets projects like AVP and RE that SHOULD turn out to be GOLD. They are dream projects,...

...and some how he still manages to fuck them up completely with his utter shit writing skills.:(

That's really low. They're called "Private Message" for a reason.

Oh, and the Castelvania movie is going to suck. Paul Anderson couldn't write a decent script to save his life. He's not truly terrible like some directors are but his films are the definition of "forgettable" and "average"

That may be, but his elitist attitude is intolerable it's one thing to strongly disagree with someone(which i would certainly respect) it's another to make them feel inferior or just flatout insult them because of their opinion.

Hey, now. Paul WS Anderson was actually the first Paul Anderson. His first movie, Shopping, came out in 1992 in England. It stared a very young Jude Law and was pretty good. Haven't watched it in a while though.

Paul Thomas Anderson's Hard Eight came out later (1996 I believe). So he's the onw who should have had to change his name, not WS. But I can see why they both did anyway.

I've liked all of Paul "The Original" Anderson's movies except for Soldier. It was a cool idea, but the story was just dull. From best to worst, I'd go:

1 - Resident Evil
2 - Event Horizon
3 - Mortal Kombat
4 - AVP
5 - Shopping
6 - Soldier

My list would go like this:

2 - Shopping 8/10
3 - Resident Evil 7/10
4 - Soldier 7/10
5 - The Sight 7/10
6 - AVP 7/10 (i'm going by the unrated cut, theatrical gets a 6/10)
7 - Mortal Kombat 6/10

For anyone wondering what The Sight is, it's a little known tv film he did back in 2000 a supernatural murder mystery in the vein of Sixth Sense and The Dead Zone well written and visually stunning especially for a tv movie(though some of the acting is questionable), check out the IMDB page for the lowdown http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0262001/ i defintely recommend it.

I was aware that they did not apply via PMs since they are private. It's a personal matter, posting it on the board would disrupt things which is why PMs are recommended to settle things.

I have to ask, is what you're doing NOT intolerable?

Anderson is an awful writer and a semi-stylish director. His movies can only be appreciated on an 'oh that's cool' level, but seriously he's raped any kind of possible good that could have come out from the Resident Evil and Alien/Predator series.

Like i said before i completely respect everyone's opinion, if you hate Anderson and the films he makes that's fine by me. I cannot however stand for an elitist film snob and of all the posts i've seen of Madsen's that's exactly how he comes off, it's like to him anyone that disagrees is of low intelligence and poor taste, imo this kind of mentality should not be tolerated.

There's a huge difference between being passionate and blunt with your opinions and blatantly trying to make somebody feel inferior purely because they do not agree with you.

Hey Elder, the man with the thoudand threads (you are all over the place).

The only thing that really ruins the poster is the mention of those two mediocre movies. Being very average, it is also true and ironic that Mortal Kombat is the best video game adaptation ever made. How can this guy so much (cool) contracts?

Id check out the movie Agent!, its probably my favoriter straight-uo horror movie of the year aside from THE DESCENT. I really didnt ever have time to play the games, so i wasnt exactly a fan of the series when i saw it.

..but thats fine. What i thought was great was that it worked as a movie without having any knowledge or interest in the games. Still creepy as shit, smart, and with alot of "content" and not lame "boo" scares.:)
