Hey everybody,

It's with very sad news that I announce on this forum that an orchestra composing legend has passed away and that is Basil Poledouris. Basil passed away due to severe cancer and had fought hard until he died yesterday.

Basil was a very special composer to me and so many others as he created works of art that I forever will listen to until I'm 61 years old and older. His work included such brilliant works like "Robocop", "Conan The Barbarian", "Conan The Destroyer", "Starship Troopers" and my absolute favourite, "The Hunt For Red October".

Basil will be missed very much and his music also will be. However, let his wonderful music go on in time and remembered by all those who loved it.

To commemorate Basil and his family, I have posted a link to probably one of the greatest motion picture themes ever written that Basil created and all of you can listen to it and have it for yourselves.

Goodbye Basil, you will always be remembered.....

That sucks.

I love his score to the Conan flicks.

I was very saddened when I read this. Unfortunately, this is another readon why "cancer" is my least favorite word. He will be missed.

I have Robocop in my CD player right now.

This fucking sucks. Really underrated composer. Sure, the fanboys loved him, but you never hear his name when people talk about the "great" composers. Only guy anyone seems to know is John freakin Williams.

I'm sorry, but Poledouris blows Williams away.

Damn.
This guy knew how to score a movie.
Some of the best music ever.

that is fucking awful. Robocop in particular had a great score. He'll be missed.
