Probably the most anticipated theatrical trailer of 2006 will be released in only a matter of hours and I have to honestly say that I'm so friggin' excited to see it in gorgeous High Definition. Just from the original teaser, it looks like Sam Raimi and the team have pulled out all the stops to make the third film of the trilogy the greatest battle of them all. The story sounds fantastic and the characters look like they will unbelievable and faithful to the comics. Especially when it comes to the characters of Venom and Sandman whom I'm dying to see in this trailer. I forsee millions of comic geeks such as us pissing our pants while watching it tonight. ;)

So as each hour passes everybody, I'll be updating the screen above with the official countdown clock at IFilm.com. As soon as it is posted on the site, it will be posted on here for sure. If any of you have quick updates, feel free to post away. This is an awesome night everybody so let's all watch this awesome spectacle online together. The rest of the world will be as well! :D

3.Harry in the "new" green goblin suit looks like he's going surfing while playing paintball. Absolutely horrible design.

4. Looks like the storyline is gonna be where Sandman was the real killer of Uncle Ben??? This makes NO sense to me, that wasn't how it was in the comics.

Other than that, the obvious highlight of the trailer was Sandman, who I though looked fantastic. The fight scenes with him are gonna be BADASS!

Films based on comic books are never 100 percent faithful to the comics. There's bound to be freedom in artistic interpretation.

Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer is perfect for the story. The main theme in Spidey 3 is revenge... Peter, Harry, and Eddie all want it in one form or another. Peter gaining the symbiote only fuels his anger and of course he wants to kill him. Not to mention it in no way ruins Spidey's origin. The thug he let go is still the reason Uncle Ben died, even if he didn't pull the trigger.

I'm aware of that, however I believe that there's a difference between "artistic interpretation" and "let's make up some shit for the movie because it would sound better." (Or fit the movie's theme) Not only does it go against the comics, it goes against the first two movies that have already established Uncle Ben's killer. I dunno...it could work, or it could be really far-fetched. Who knows. Getting off topic here, but overall I did enjoy the trailer, just didn't tickle my fancy.;)

BTW, Sin City was damn near close to being 100% faithful to the comic.

I like how Raimi is only using original Sinister Six members as prominent villains. It show's he respects the source material.

Obviously Venom will change that, but I feel that's why he chose to include Sandman as the main villain in this one, instead of going the obvious route with Lizard.

That's the first thing that came to my mind - we're revisiting the Uncle Ben death? I like the stuff concerning inner struggle, and I liked the shot of the black Spider-man seeing the red Spider-man in the building reflection. Good stuff. I hate the Uncle Ben/Sandaman idea. That is so freaking stupid. I hate it worse that they seem to play that more than the Harry storyline or the Venom storyline. That pisses me off, that they had to go back and ruin the classic original Spiderman to make another one that really isn't looking all that great. I am very excited to see this movie, but I need to see somthing that is gonna blow me away.

Sandman looks bad ass, I am even more excited to see Venom. I hate the idea that Uncle Ben wasn't killed by the original guy. I hope this somehow turns to be untrue. All we know is Sandman is the supposed real killer, maybe Uncle Ben's killer from the first film isn't dead and he "snitched" on Sandman in this film, possibly forcing the guy who pulled the trigger to do it. If anything, it makes Sandman & Spidey's fights more personal, which I think it needed instead of having some random villain show up everynow and then (Raimi likes his villains to be "personal-based"), so it works for the story. Until then, we don't know the real story 'till the movie comes out next year.

Yeah, i actually really liked/love the trailer, it was good to see the effects have been improved on, and they no doubt will be time and time again before release, but i didnt find it bad enough to be gringe worthy, cuz it still looked pretty damn fuckn cool. No Venom footage but hes definatly there, im pretty sure alot of the stuff with mj and spidey in his original duds are when venoms around..suss the webbing stuff around them, clearly venom like :D. As for plot im not suprised, sounds just like what was leaked at the beginning of the year.

I liked it, gotta remember that in a trailer things aren't always as it seems. I know some of you are complaining about Sandman being Ben's true killer. That could simply be a lie or misinformation given by somebody to get Spidey to go after Sandman. Who knows until the movie comes out?

As for the CGI, i wouldn't worry too much about it right now. I remember watching the extras for Peter Jackson's King Kong and I think they weren't fully done with the CGI until maybe a week or so before the movie was supposed to be released. It led me to believe that sort of thing happens regularly.

I still don't get this mentality that everything has to be 100% close to the source material. Granted, I thought X3 sucked a fat dick because it had no respect for the source, but Raimi is an avowed fan of the comic, and I honestly think any changes he makes he'll use in a great way (plus I am personally ok with Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer, and coming from a lifelong die-hard spidey fan that means a lot.

OK, I'm gonna have to go against a lot of the grain here on this thread and say that this new trailer was pretty FUCKING AWESOME...despite the lack of any Venom footage. I think that works out better anyway, it builds even more upon the various layers of anticipation already established since we first heard Venom was going to be in this one.
The ONE thing I really didn't like (which was minor) was how there was a scene in which Spideys mask is torn in almost the exact same way in was in SM1 during his fight with Green Goblin.

Other than that, it looks great. SandMan looks Fan-Fucking-Tastic. They couldn't have found a better fit for the role. For those complaining about Harry's suit....he's an amateur. He doesn't have they same knowledge about the whole thing like his dad did. I really thing that Topher, despite the obvious difference in physique as opposed to the comic book character, will do a great job. And the one scene with Spidey surrounded by black webbing......oooohhhhh yeahhhh.....I'm fantasizing of Venom standing right there in front of him starring him down.

I think that the best trailer ever in this series was the first actual trailer for SM2. That shit almost brought me to tears with how beautiful it was. But this one, being that it's not even done, looks pretty damn good too. It seems like it’s a long time from now but I'm positive that when the moment comes....it would have all been worth the wait.

I agree with Shockwave, I love the Sandman focus in this trailer and it also supports what I thought was great casting all along. Moreso for me as I've always been a big Thomas Haden Church supporter and was tired of there for awhile him getting cast as one-dimensional characters that try as he might he just couldn't do much with. This looks like his best work ever and it's just the trailer. There's so much emotion behind that line "What does it matter to you?"
Everything else looks great and if this is what they're giving away, I can't wait to see what surprises are in store for us. I remember seeing the SM2 trailer, being amazed at the Doc Ock throwing the car through the coffee shop window and saying "Well, jeez, they ruined the best shot of the movie there!" And then I was forced to eat my words when I saw the train sequence.
And really, did any of you guys expect to see Venom this early? Not only would it be a stupid move as far as the surprise of seeing it in the film, half the CGI in the trailer is unfinished, can you imagine seeing the unfinished Venom (supposedly all CGI) and how much fanboy bitching it would cause? Final thought is that the movie looks fantastic and I can't believe we've still got 6 months to go. I'm very excited now and we'll most definitely be seeing Venom in the final trailer for sure.

From all the talks about the Uncle Ben issue- I'm wondering who here has actually SEEN the movie and KNOWS whether or not that Sandman truly killed Uncle Ben or if the movie is going to have a twist of sorts. It sounds to me like that information is going to be the catalyst to Peter's succombing to a dark side, but how do we know that in the end it's going to turn out to be true? I guess we'll all find out when we see the movie, but, it could turn out to be misinformation.

Apprently, back when Sandman was Flint Marko, he was just a run-of-the-mill hood. His partner was the guy we see in the first one. Though they both fled with Uncle Ben's car, Flint was the one who pulled the trigger. I don't know how, but the cops finally find out that it was Marko, so they inform Peter and Aunt May, thus, Peter swears revenge.

I found it to be rather boring. It looks just like the previous 2 films. The dude from "Wings" is going to add nothing new to this franchise. The f/x look kinda cheesy.

I damn near blew a load when the teaser came out, and I officially blew one when I saw this trailer! Fucking awesome!!! I I dont see whats so bad about the CGI in this movie, it looks on par with the CGI from the second, and as it has been said before the film is still 6 months away. I was actually thinking I would be let down by the trailer, but it definatly blew me away, the story looks like it will fit together perfectly.

Pretty awesome trailer, IMO. No prob wth the effects, here. They looked great to me - especially the symbiote bonding with Spidey's suit! Sweet! I also love how they made Venom's webbing black. I always kinda wondered why it wasn't black in the comics. I was a little disappointed not to have seen him - being my absolute favorite villain in all of comics - in all his wicked, drooling glory...but I'll live. I'm glad to see Thomas Haden Church as Sandman, too. I think he looks perfect for the part. As for the "Sandman killed Ben Parker" bit, that doesn't bother me in the least. I think Sam Raimi's done a helluva job converting ink and paper to movie magic so far and I don't mind if he strays a bit here and there. After all, look how different LotR was from the books and they still turned out sweet. If I want to see the comics verbatim, I'll go read the comics. Bring on May 4th! I'll definitely be doing my best to see this on opening day!

Upon retrospect, my only real beef is that whoever has been writing the scripts for this trilogy needs to expand a little more....

For example:

Spider-man 1:
Mary Jane "What is that thing?"
Peter "I dunno. But somebody has to stop it."

Spider-man 3:
Mary Jane "What's happening to you?"
Peter "I dunno. But I have to stop it."

.......I've been hearing this for awhile, alot of the dialogue gets over-used. After repeat viewings, it just gets old.

You really can't go by trailers though. Who knows if that's where the actual dialogue belongs or it they'll even use both of those resonses.

I rewatched the trailers for Spidey 1 & 2 and I think those were so much better than this one for the third. They were intense, had buildup, and were exciting. I didn't see or feel any of that for this third one.

I doub thtis is the finaly trailer as most of us do, but the reason for less build up and intensity is that every spidey fan knows exactly what's happening here, like with the symbiote, and the trailers are more for these fans...there will be better, but its catered more for those in the know. It's still damn cool though. lol.
