Not too excited for this one. Looks iffy, and the reviews don't help.

What is that poster saying, precisely?
American babies are conditioned to be customers of McDonald's...?
Really looking forward to this one. Marketing (trustworthy, them) is building this up as a movie of urgent political importance but I'm curious of whether how much Linklater indicts the people for their unhealthy habits. From the trailer and notices, the vibe I receive is that he's mainly dealing with the corporate aspects.

I'm not sure what the poster is saying either.
In any case, I agree with Tyler. The film looks meh, and the reviews don't help. Still, I may see it because of Linklater (though the graphic depictions said to be in the film may turn me away from the theater).

I might catch it on DVD because sometimes movies like this never come to my town.

I think I'm missing something here - I truely don't get this. Based on the book I guess.
Those burgers look tasty though - I might go to Burger King instead of watching this

I agree with Tyler and dman on this one.
The cast is really appealing, though.

SPOILERS!!
I think joblo may have actually been a little generous with his review of this movie. I could not believe how horrible it is. I have never read the book, but I have heard only good things and I am a fan of Richard Linklater. Unfortunately, the cast is the only positive aspect here. They must not have read the script. Greg Kinnear, Bruce Willis, Ethan Hawke, Paul Dano, Bobby Cannavale, Patricia Arquette, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Luis Guzman, Kris Kristofferson and Wilmer Valderamma (I hate him but he's surprisingly good). It's an impressive ensemble, but they have nothing to work with. The story is all over the place. It's kind of about Kinnear and his job as VP of Marketing for Mickey's, a fast food chain. But it's also kind of about illegal immigrants making it to Colorado and getting jobs for the company that gives Mickey's all their meat. And then there's another story about a high school girl working for Mickey's who comes to hate it and starts turning into an animal rights crusader. It meanders aimlessly back and forth between all these stories with no real rhyme or reason. None is all that interesting and all the characters are one-dimensional. It's very preachy and self-important. There is plenty of laughable dialogue. It's frustratingly bad. Kinnear is the central character for over half the movie, and suddenly he is gone, and he never returns. So many scenes felt like they should have been left out. Just a really bad movie.
4/10 (for the cast)

I have no idea what that poster is trying to say either. Perhaps it's trying to say that American children eat crappy hamburgers day and night, do not eat healthily, and have no one to cook superior, healthier meals for them. Whatever...
Fast Food Nation may have a solid ensemble cast, but it could not interest me less. I wish it did interest me, though. I've been waiting to see what Catalina Sandino Moreno would follow-up Maria Full of Grace with. I suppose I'll wait for her next film.

i was expecting a smart satire-esque flick ala Thank You For Smoking... this movie was EH... it really was nothing special, not absolute shit either, just nothing special.
i def thought it was going to be more of a comedy.. but no way no how, uh uh!

I thought everyone here were big Linklater fans!
This seems to be getting a decent sized release -- it arrived in Wichita, KS opening day.

I'm a huge Linklater fan, and I must admit that the reviews and criticisms of the film are only getting me more interested - Linklater's style is almost entirely based on ensemble storytelling. Do Dazed and Confused or Slacker have one storyline? You better believe they don't. I love the encompassing, epic scale it sounds like the film has, covering all aspects of the business and not focusing on just one. I dunno, I seem to be the opposite of the other members here - turned on and interested by this one, and not turned off by it.

I love Dazed and Confused and Slacker. Both are vastly superior to this.
