Director: Bob Odenkirk

Starring: Dax Shepard, Will Arnet, Chi McBride, David Koechner, Dylan Baker

Plot outline: When a career criminal's plan for revenge is thwarted by unlikely circumstances, he puts his intended victim's son in his place by putting him in prison...and then joining him.

Looks like it could be fun, but it probably isn't.

Wow, every TV spot I see of this makes me wanna gag. As in the quality, not that the jokes are cringe-inducing. But they are, but not in the way they're going for... ANYWAY, I think I'm gonna pass.

I saw the trailer when i saw Jackass Humber Two, and i really felt uncomfortable watching it. It looks like complete garbage to me!

The movie doesn't even look anything close to funny.

The only part I was moderately amused by (and I use the term loosely) was "from the studio that brought you Brokeback Mountain."

Terrible.

Poor Will Arnett. He deserves better. Much better.

I love Gob Bluth, but apparently he needs to read his scripts more carefully, or take more supporting roles in better projects.

This has some of the wierdest advertising/marketing I've ever seen for a film...but I'll be checking it out on dvd most likely.

I'm still sad to see that this is how far Bob Odenkirk has sunken after the brilliant Mr. Show. At least David Cross is still funny. Bob Odenkirk seems to be the more "out for cash" of the two.

The movie was written by Michael Patrick Jann, Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant who are writers of Reno 911 and members of the former comedy group The State. The movie's directed by Bob Odenkirk who was one of the writers/stars of Mr. Show (which was one of the best sketch comedy shows on TV).

You would think that the combination of people from The State/Reno 911 and Mr. Show would make for something good, and at first I remember people being excited over it. Of course, people should figure out by now that any non-State related project Jann/Garant/Lennon does should be avoided at all costs. They've written Herbie Fully Loaded, The Pacifier and the Taxi remake. It seems like the three of them just want to make a bit of money by making half assed scripts and save the real stuff for Reno or other things that are directly involved with their friends. Of course, the movie looks awful but I thought that way back when I found out who was writing it. I hoped that Odenkirk would have been able to get it to work but after seeing the trailers that's far from it.

What we need is another Mr. Show movie that won't be raped by studio involvement. Reno 911 Miami will be coming out soon along with The Ten (from the Wain/Showalter/Ian Black crew of The State) so a new State movie is covered down nicely.

This isn't really a reply to your post Madsen, just a general post on some quality comedy writers selling out. That, and how massive of a disappointment this looks to fans of Mr. Show/The State.
