Wow. (http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?id=1522103&sdm=web&qtw=640&qth=400)
Looks pretty good
Backstabba found it but I decided to post it on here.
There are some awesome aerial shots, and the movie looks like it will have some intense moments, but where the hell was Gary Oldman?

Thank you.
I think it looks good (Fincher is one of my favorite directors, so I'd be in denial even if it looked bad) but I think the music was VERY strange, atleast for the subject matter...It didn't blow me away like I thought it would...
I still expect it to be amazing.

I like the subject, and liked Graysmith's book on the subject...so I was already looking forward to the movie. Just think it is to the nth degree awesome that Goose is in this movie. Welcome back Anthony Edwards...we missed ya.

Um... I've no doubt that the movie's gonna be good, but that trailer was... I dunno. Not too great. In particular the almost feel-good comedic nature of the music...

What he said. It doesn't look like the movie's that type of film so whoever edited that trailer did a pretty awful job. That said, the movie itself is looking good...

The trailer would of been perfect without that "feel good" music about half way through. Its almost like someone hijacked the trailer music and put that in there.
Anyways, the film looks fantastic. 3 seconds into the trailer you know Fincher directed it. Should be awesome!

Agree with everyone else that the movie looks GREAT but maybe the worst use of music ever in a trailer.

I thought the music was fine.
Anyway, great trailer, except...they mentioned Fincher as the director of "Se7en and Panic Room."
How the hell could they not mention Fight Club, one of the most popular films of all time (which can't be said about Panic Room).

I know Fight Club is popular among internet users like myself and those who populate this board -- but it wasn't a box office success, and Panic Room and Se7en both made more money that it, so that's where I believe the marketing is centered.

Looks pretty good. I doubt it will be as good as Se7en though. That will probably remain Fincher's masterpeice.

I understand that, but I think, much like The Shawshank Redemption, the film has gained a larger following than box office numbers can tell.
It'd be like advertising Frank Darabont as "the director of The Green Mile", as opposed to "the director of The Shawshank Redemption."
The box office differences are clearly there, but the following isn't (the difference in reviews is also the same).

I think the reason they're advertising Panic Room is just that that movie and Se7en are more in the sort of same vein/genre as Zodiac compared to Fight Club anyway...
But still, if I were the advertising guys, I'd be putting director of Fight Club and Se7en rather than Panic Room and Se7en cause Fight Club, while not successful in theatres HAS developed a following much bigger than Panic Room and I don't think it's one of those small cult films anymore, at least in the teenage market...a couple years back, in one of our classes, our teacher asked how many people had seen Fight Club and every person put up their hand except for ONE person. I can't extrapolate that and say that it's the same everywhere for sure, but it certainly does seem to be a movie that nearly *everyone* in the high school/university ages has seen, at least in my experience.

I totally get what you're saying, and if I were shilling Zodiac, Fight Club would be the Fincher flicker that I would use instead of the other two, but c'est la vie.
Studios do that with a lot of directors, highlighting their B.O. successes over their more personal, deeply felt work. For example, I don't see trailers for upcoming Tim Burton films as being from "the director of Ed Wood" or "the director of Edward Scissorhands," but more like "from the director of Batman and Sleepy Hollow," since those films made more money, while the former two are his better films. It's kinda lame, but I get the message you're relaying. :)

I see what you're getting at, and then yeah, I agree.
It's stupid, but that is what they do, though it's a total worthless system. Panic Room only got that much money because people saw Fight Club/Seven and liked it, so they decided to see the director's next venture (or so my guess goes ;)).
Damn those evil Burton advertisers, not putting the two "Eds" up there!
(I think they're his best films as well) :D

Who ever decided to use that music must have been on drugs. Happy, funky, feel good music on the background of a serious, moody serial killer thriller? Huh?
I think Fincher is a genius, but the many test screening reviews have made me worried. Apparently his directing is as strong as usual, but the story is repetitive and never really goes anywhere - Just like it never went anywhere in the real life.

Did you all laugh at that person and throw things that him? Cause I would of:)

When that song came in like halfway through, it felt like the movie turned into some dark comedy.
