Hey everybody,

I was over at IESB.net and they just had a recent interview with comic book movie producer Lauren Shuler Donner who had some very interesting news to give us.

There spoke about many topics but one of the most interesting is that she confirmed that a "Constantine" sequel is very much in the works and they already have a team of writers working away on a script. She gave us some tidbits and locations for the film as well as confirming the return of Keanu Reeves.

Here is a sample of what she told us:

IESB: Are we ever going to see a sequel to Constantine?

LSD: Yes, you might, you might.

IESB: WIth Keanu?

LSD: Yes, with Keanu [Reeves]. We have been working with a team of writers to come up with a story and yeah, you will.

IESB: What can we look forward to in the Constantine sequel?

LSD: We are really going to go for it this time. The area that we found is great...it's really scary, it's good…

IESB: Taking it to London?

LSD: No...another country though, you're right, it's outside of America.

IESB: Same director?

LSD: No, different director, but Francis [Lawrence] will produce it with us. We will try to maintain his vision.

That sounds amazing to me and I can't wait for a sequel as I loved the first film. Very underrated! To read the rest of the article, head to the link below:

Good to hear. Constantine was a surprisingly enjoyable flick. THe supporting cast was really strong, so I hope they're able to duplicate that success.

I enjoyed how slick and enthrealling the atompshere of the movie gave off, and the actors made it even better (7.5/10). So im definitely down for the second one!

I wonder who the next director will be? I am suprised that Francis Lawrence isn't coming back since Constatine was the first movie he ever directed.

There was an alternate ending with Shia Lebeouf making an appearnace as an angel so I hope he comes back. He was real good in this movie. That kid is actually quite impressive in movies. His movie Guide to Recognizing Your Saints looks amazing.

Yeah, the fact that most of the supporting cast died or went away could really take away from it.

I thought I was in the vast minority who really liked Constantine (As it seemed to garner A LOT of negative reviews) but I guess I was wrong, awesome. I think not reading the comic is what turned the film in my favor, as most people who have a problem with the film are fanboys. However, Im currently ordering a TPB from Garth Ennis' run on the series, so hopefully that won't tip my understanding and cause me to hate this film and its sequel.

That all said, Keanu Reeves gave a pretty flat performance. I really hope he steps it up a notch.

I liked the first one so I fully support a sequel.

This is good stuff; the first one was good fun and had some good visual effects. Hopefully they'll be able to improve on the story this time around though. The first's wasn't bad, but I think it could've been better.

This sounds great. The ending to the first set up a sequel perfect. It is also one of my favorites.

Constantine was one of my favorites of last year very underrated, really it's a unique and visually spectacular film. I'm all for a sequel though the news of Francis Lawrence not directing kinda sucks, hopefully Peter Stormare will reprise his role as the Devil(one of the creepiest versions imo).

The first one was a really well shot disaster. I hope the second's plotting is decently done.

I keep reading about how the story for the sequel should be improved, and really, I thought the story in the first was great in particular because they took very little time to explain things, you kinda had to work out for yourself what was going on, much like Rachael Weisz's character. I openly welcome a sequel, as long as it's at least 3/4 of the movie Constantine was, I'll be happy.

Constantine was outstanding! Whilst this seems to be good news, I hope the sequel can be on par with the first. You know, the usual 'sequel scaries' stuff.

i really am torn on Constantine. whilst it was a very enjoyable movie in its own right, it's also a downright piss-poor adaptation of one of Vertigo's biggest and most beloved characters.

John Constantine does not do the Lord's work. he's just as fed up with Yaweh as he is Lucifer, and is sick of humans being used as pawns in the chess game between them. he's just as ready to tell Gabriel or Micheal to shove their halos up their asses as he is to send a demon back to hell, and has blown off Jesus H Christ himself on numerous occasions. Constantine fights for humanity, and is a compassionate humanist. the movie threw all of this out of the window and made him a demon-slaying hard-ass which, whilst an interesting concept, is about as far from the Constantine we've come to know and love as possible. there were two distinct choices that rubbed me particularly wrong. the first being the fact that they killed Chas. in the comics, Chas Chandler has the dubious honor of being one of John's oldest, not to mention longest-surviving, friend. Chas is the miracle exception to the rule of John outliving all of his friends. killing him (and doing it in such an off-handed and brutal way no less) was in poor taste.

the second problem was John quitting smoking. once again, in the books, John has no desire to go to heaven, he simply wants to be cured of his cancer that he might go on living. after getting the three lords of hell to a point where they can either cure his cut wrists and cancer, or go to war for his soul and inevitably be crushed by Yaweh, they cure him. he immediately lights up another smoke, flips Satan off, and walks away. the whole gum bit just didn't carry the same impact.
