Let me preface this comment by saying, I KNOW there are tons of soccer moms that think this "lil' starlet is just the most talented young woman", and that is peachy. But allow me to give my opinion: Fuck Dakota Fanning. I swear, every time I see that 12-year old cunt bag on TV interviews talking like she is a little adult, I wanna kick her in her fucking teeth. And I know there are some out there saying out loud "but sir, she is only 12!"! I understand that, and I don't give a shit, I still want to plant my foot into her throat.

Why do I hate her you ask? Because apparently, someone informed Miss Fanning that acting like an irritating little adult everywhere you go will make you seem classy and intelligent and talented. Well, allow me to clear the air: it doesn't. Fanning is not the great actress everyone says she is. Yes, she does act very adult-like in her roles, and she does that well. But let us remember, she isn't playing adults in her movies, she is playing fucking kids. The characters she plays shouldn't be possessed of this false high-level of emotional maturity. Every time I see her on-screen, I get the feeling that she is a lot like JonBenet Ramsey, if she had not been murdered, programmed like some form of artificial intelligence by her parents and Hollywood. She is nothing more than a pathetic Hollywood zombie. You want an example of a good childhood actress? Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. In that film, she tried to act like a little adult but ultimately couldn't appear like one because she was only 12, and it was an incredible performance (as was her role in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore). Dakota Fanning is abyssmal.

I had to watch that stupid Daddy Day Care and her sister is in it I think, and the extras had the sister with her legs crossed, all waving and acting 20 years old, while the kid next to her acted like a kid. It was quite odd. They are being molded a way that is not natural, and now they got this Dakota kid thinking about a role worthy of an Oscar nod. Make me sick, her talent is not anything like Jodie Fosters at all.

I already deflated your argument, sir. I gave Jodi Foster as an example, and said I liked her performance for the same reason.

But to answer your question, yes, I do think that kids being kids in movies can be annoying, because lets face it, kids can be annoying little fucks. Not all of them, because there are certainly kids I like a lot in my family and within my circle of friends, but when it comes to a lot of kids, I could give two shits. And honestly, I blame the parents as well. I remember going to see the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and being annoyed because some dumb fuck brought their 2 year old to the film. If you are that fucking clueless as a parent, I really hope that a transient jerks off his AIDS-infested semen into a squirt gun and blasts you in the face with it. If you aren't going to raise your fucking kids, don't expect me to sympathize for them.

Okay comon she was awesome in I Am Sam. I don't think she overplayed her age in that at all. There are kids like that.

In War Of the Worlds and Man On Fire, she didn't really have a lasting impression on me, but she did some adequate work there.

And Uptown Girls, I only saw some of it, but let's face it, she can out-act Brittany Murphy. Hell, she is a better actress than a lot of 20-year-old bimbos working today. She kicks the Olsen Twins' asses. Haley Joel Osment is a fuckin' alcholic now. Dakota is the shit. I think she'll probably grow up to be the next Julia Roberts. Which isn't the greatest thing in the world, but theres a lot worse out there than Julia Roberts.

I have not seen Cat in The Hat or Dreamer, I can't really form an opinion of how she is in KIDS movies...but w/e. I also won't be rushing out to see Charlotte's Web any time soon, speaking of Julia Roberts...yeech...:rolleyes:


EDIT: BTW, I don't think the Foster defense can hold up with your argument. Her character was 12, but she was 16, or maybe even older when she made the film. And her role in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore was really TINY!

She does appear to be overly adult-like in interviews and whatnot, and as a self-confessed child actor/actress aficionado she just rubs me up the wrong way.

Her performances just seem too self-aware and precocious , and forced if I'm honest. Plus she has very harsh features despite her tender years.

See David Bradley in Kes, William Eadie in Ratcatcher, the entire cast of George Washington, Heather Matarazzo in Welcome To The Dollhouse, the boys from A Room For Romeo Brass, Di Caprio in Gilbert Grape...and going back some, Hayley Mills, Liz Taylor, Anthony Newley et al ..the key is conveying innocence and vulnerability despite having a job which requires you to essentially 'be' an adult.

I totally agree. He was great in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and I loved him in Finding Neverland as well. I was really happy when he won the Empire Award for Best Newcomer back in 2004 for Finding Neverland. He seems like a great little talent, definitely one to watch out for.

As for Dakota, I have no opinion. Yeah, she does my head in sometimes, but she's still young and immature. Give her a chance to grow up before you judge her.

As for the "best kid actor" business... Well, duh. It's not like SHE has claimed that title. So maybe you would better off "hating" any adults who are trying to force that title on Dakota.

However, I am aware that people talk with so little inhibition on the message boards because the internet affords them an opportunity to do so. I believe that being the same person online as you are in real, daily life is a matter of personal integrity. That's my opinion on the matter.

I have always found that ironic, and while I think JoBlo is an awesome guy, I think his rules are contradictory here. Of course, when you're setting up rules while still providing for free speech, things get very tricky.

It is generally understood when profanity takes on meanings different from its literal meaning.

But I do agree that profanity is often overused to the point that it is pointless. Its unnecessary to use 'fuck' every other word. The best and freshest profanity is when it isn't derivative and it does have something to do with the actual meaning of the word: think of how funny it was to hear the term "MILF" for the first time.
