First off, welcome to the boards CG.

Just keep in mind patient helps…an attitude won’t get you any where on these boards. So, if you don’t get an immediate reply it isn’t because no one cares about your work. Ok? Ok.

Now, I saw your 2 short films 'the two solitudes' and 'johnny rockera'. I like the use of black and white on ‘solitudes’, it had a very art house style to it. Interesting stuff.

‘rockera’ was a strange short. I did like the shots of the man in the long coat as he comes into view (good shot). But, this short seemed a bit more rushed in terms of the camera work and angles.

Keep working at it, you have potential. Just Be cool...;)

Hmmm. Interesting films. I didnt dig the Rocker one too much. I agree wtih a dead one that it seemed a bit rushed. Like maybe you didnt have access to those buildings legally and were trying to shoot it before the guard saw you(yes I have been chased by a guard before for similar circumstances so I understand). I did dig the shot of the guy approaching the camera, but it might have looked better if he was about a parking space or two over so the pillar wasnt blocking the sunlight.

I loved 'solitudes'. The black and white did work. It gave off a very 60'sss Italian or French vibe to me. Told a simple, yet effective story with very little fluff. There were a few editing choices I disagreed with, but thats nitpicky shit that doesnt matter. Its only flaw was the video/audio quality. Saveing up some money and investing in a good dv camera would do wonders. Then again I see that your last film at least was following the Dogma school so maybe you consciously chose the camera/audio to fit in with that.

One question though. In your Seppuko film, did she stab her breast? I thought that the women stabbed themselves in the throat.

Basically, I like your work. I would sugget working on telling an effective story like you did with 'solitudes' and youl have a fine batch of shorts soon after.

I won't lie, I found this quote really fucking funny! Dude, I for one didn't see this thread as I wasn't back on the boards when it was first around. Now that I've come across it I'll explain to you why people don't reply IMO:

Horror movies are majorly hit and miss at the moment. When a studio releases a movie theatrically and it sucks ass it's very disheartening for the fans. So when they see a nobody (no offence intended of course) post their own low budget stuff, they assume it will suck donkey dick. If it DOES suck donkey dick, they will not post a reply because most schmoes are too kind to hurt someones feelings. Not saying people have seen your films and hate them, but maybe they read the post and decided they couldn't be assed to watch them!

I, however, don't give a fuck about feelings. I will watch your films and tell you what I think about them. If I hate them, I will tell you. If I love them, I will bum you (in a good way)! ;)

most horror movies suck yes, but i'd always reply.

also mute the rocker one was the just us dicking with a camera we borrowed during the first day of film school. zooms and so one. the two solitudes was agony to make, it was supposed to be a team effort but this asshole Raphael started taking over, i was the only one that stood up to him. it was basically a big fuck you fest.

Well I just watched all three of these videos.

The first one really did nothing for me. Didn't understand the reasoning behind it or anything.

The second video seemed a little more professional but still didn't captivate me in any way.

Both of these videos seemed misplaced in this forum since they really had nothing to do with horror. I was just asking myself what their relevance was in this particular part of the site.

The third video at least had somewhat of a horror vibe to it but was still had too much of an amateurishish feel to have me intrigued.

Sorry to rain on your parade (if I did) but those were my thoughts. I figured I would rather state the truth than just lie to you and tell you that I thought it was better than I really did.

the one i just posted it my first attempt at a real horror movie. we shot with 8mm and it ends adruptly because the film died. i've been told it was so fucking weird.

It seems more like a music video that doesn't make much sense. I'm gathering that it's about mask wearing zombies who kill randomly people, film their murders, and sit around doing nothing. While a guy who isn't wearing a mask is taking out trash bags of body parts...like I said, I don't get it.

I'll say that some of you're shots are great, and they have a 80's look. But some of them aren't good at all. I don't like your way too fast dissolves (they should have just been cuts), but I did like your cut to black at the end of the phone scene. I don't get why you even bothered to have that last cut at the end. It's pointless. You should have just ended it with the cut to black at the end of the hand scene and that's it.

Over all, it's not anything I'd recommend as a must see. More of just average.
