I want to take it to the next level.

Freddys greatest weakness has already been beaten to death - getting dragged into the real world. Well, look no more.

Somehow Freddy figures out a way to use his powers in the REAL WORLD.

Eitehr halway through THIS flick, or if they decide to do a two-parter, Freddy can cause his dream-like destruction on a MASS SCALE. Soon, it is the end of the world, and everyone who has survived is running from their own nightmares. (If you remember the Buffy episode where the little boy causes dreams to attack, that would be kinda like it). And somehow, a few lone apocolypse survivors have to figure out a way to stop the DEMON FREDDY

Oh come on, you're better than that.

The thing you're describing here can't even be properly criticized, you're just tossing "somehow they do this!" and "at some point something happens and it gets really cool, trust me!". But as far as I can tell you . . .

The idea of using Freddy to END THE WORLD is way too overblown. Doesn't 'go' with the series. It's not the good kind of deviation every sequel except 6 did, it's just a 'let's turn this into something completely different!'. Also, what do you mean "Somehow"? Is that how you plan to leave it or do you have no clue yet of how he's going to use his powers in the real world? A two parter!? Dude, it's a Freddy movie, don't milk it. It's schlocky entertainment for frights and should never go past the 2 hour mark. It's like Micheal Bay making his 4 hour movies.

Freddy is scary because it's personal. He attacks you. Sure, it'd attack each one with their fear (exactly like the Buff episode) and blah blah, but the whole concept is way too obvious an attempt to 'take it to the next level'! like you say.

Just do the same concept without the 'Freddy' name. Firstly because the idea of the Freddy demon in the real world (if by that you mean the demon introduced in New Nightmare which is the most clever thing ever) was done masterfully in New Nightmare. Don't take it anywhere else, it's way too great to be mingled with (it'd be ruined if it got the overblown treatment you're describing).

Secondly, because you should be aiming to sell your stuff. Seems like you're way past fanscripts by now.

Change the concept around so it's not "Nighmares" (Buff) on steroids. This doesn't sound original (which is odd because you seem to like originality) at all, even with the half-described concepts you're giving here.

I'd be glad to say more but you're not helping me help you. Be more specific.

Wasn't there an early draft from the mid-90s or so of Freddy vs. Jason where this happened? Although what that one did, as I recall, was make Springwood sort of the nexus of the occurrence, so he was still working on a smaller scale. It still had the apocalyptic feel they wanted, but it didn't go so far as to cause the end of the world (and actually, a similar thing happens in the original draft for Freddy's Dead, if I'm remembering that right).

But yeah, ultimately if you're going to go with the idea of dream powers in the real world, it's got to be on a more limited scale, I think. Freddy can't be allowed to do just anything like he can in the dream world, because then it requires a deus ex machina to beat him. Also, I'd argue that if you're going to go this route, then it should be for a Freddy vs. Jason movie specifically, and not just a standard NOES film. The point of F v J is kickass battles between larger-than-life characters, and not really the creepiness and atmosphere of the NOES series, so I'd say the idea would work better in that context.

Best idea I have heard for the next Freddy films is:

The whole whole team are sitting around a table and wondering what would be best for the whole franchise.
Suddenly they hit upon an idea that they should have done after the first film....not to make anymore because the tedium of the wrinkly pedophile is beyond pain itself.

Seriously mate itself not unfair critism to say if you really want to sell an idea make it one of your own...please.

Here's my pitch:

We have to go back to the beginning. The Judge's chambers of a coutrthouse. Two lawyers are arguing a pont of proceedure. But the thing is this; they're trying to figure out how to avoid it. They're talking about the moral implications of letting a guy they know is guilty go because some rookie cop fucked up. Can they ignore the law? Of-fucking-course they can! This cat's been molesting and murdering children! He's going to the slam, and that's that, law be damned. The police chief steps forward, we haven't seen him in the room until now.
"Let him go."
Huh?
"Let. Him. Go. No court can judge him anyway. Let me handle this."
"To what end?"
"You don't want to know."
We're in the courtroom and there is the man himself, Fred Kreuger, manacles and orange. Sick as you can imagine. The jusdge lets him go. As he leaves county lock-up, the chief watches him go.
Cut to the present, Springfield.
An alarm clock is buzzing. Bleary-eyed and sleep crusted, our hero wakes up and shuts off the noise. He's slept as well as can be expected. Bad dreams. At school, he is surrounded by friends, outsiders the lot. Not "nerds" by any stretch of the imagination, just average, working-class kids. They have problems like any other kid, but they seem to have one thing in common.
"See him last night?"
"Same old, man."
"I'm down to about two hours every couple of days. Fuck this is getting old."
"You with the shrink today?"
"You bet your life."
In the shrink's office. Lot's of not talking. BIG elephant in the room.
"Sleeping any better?"
"Look at my face."
"Sedatives."
"Fuck you."
The kid gets a scrip anyway. We stay with this kid as he goes to a truck stop. A couple of tweakers hang around the wash. They sell the kid some meth.
Dinner at the kid's house. Mom and pop watch as he takes some pills. The kid goes upstairs, spits out thre pills and hits the meth. He's up and wide awake. All night.
Back at school, the kid is wired, alive. But now, he starts seeing shit. Slash marks on the walls, then they're gone. Blood on the floor, then it isn't. Little girls whispering. Meanwhile, they kid's friends ain't doing so hot. One of them died from a massive hemmorrage last night. We need more meth. Fuck we need anything. They go and do likewise as a group. Two of the crew are a couple. They decide to hang together and keep each other entertained. Fucking and snorting. Then shit goes wrong. The guy looks over and fuck if it isn't Freddy! Or the girl? Or Freddy! He's losing it. Dreaming or not? He winds up going across the dame's noggin with the heavy lumber. in a bad way, yes sir. He gets himnself locked up and has to deal with coming down off the white pony. He crashes hard. In fact, we enter his dream and freddy tortures him with what happened, so much so, he seizes with a heart attack.
Meanwhile, our hero kid is taking shit from his old man for hanging with junkies and tweakers. His old man just happens to be the chief of police. The kid lets slip some details of his dreams.
"How the fuck do you know that?"
"Nothing, it's just a dream."
Insert Freddy's story here. Well, this changes it. Something's afoot, brother. How to deal? Stay awake until something presents itself. Kid thinks, kid reads, kid drinks shitloads of coffee. Kid watches girls he's enamored of stroke out. He's had enough. He lays down for a nap. Solve this shit one way or the other. He's got the answer. It's just a fucking dream. And as the blades come down, Freddy vanishes. All is well again. Until he sees Freddy at school again. Maybe it is, maybe it ain't. Exunt, bitches.

Hey, I like adamjohnson's idea. Up until now Nightmare on Elm Street movies have been about small groups of teens dealing with Freddy. What I like about adamjohnson's idea is that it would turn the small story of a few people into an epic, which personally I wouldn't mind seeing at all. I think it's a worthy swan song for Robert Englund. Lord knows he deserves it.

I know your idea has recieved a bit of criticism already but I'm with Nightcrawler on this one. FREDDY should just stay in Springwood. In a small town where nobody in any other part of the world would ever hear or think of him. He just needs to keep tormenting that town. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

In all fairness, I did mean to start in Springwood, and the reason they have to 'stop' him is to keep him from spreading further.

Now change stuff around and make it an original name. You could do something great if you step away from the franchise name.

There are so many fans that have an idea for their favorite franchise boogeyman; the net is crawling with them. Technically there is nothing wrong with having fun trying to inject your own ideals as to what a fan would do ‘If’ they were to take the helm.

Personally, I’d rather see "fresh" ideas on the table as opposed to yet “another” fan script. Freddy’s dead…let the son of a hundred maniacs R.I.P. ;)
