Hey,
I have a good idea for a script:
I can't really explain it but it's basically about a guy and his friends. The whole point is that at the end we relize that the main guy is suffering from multi-personality disorder and that all his friends r actually in his mind and it's all him and his different personalities. Of course there's more. But my question to you is: is it too much like Fight Club or that movie with Tony Danza where he has a split-personality disorder. Please help me guys.

No one can really answer that for you. You have to be the judge. Hollywood has a rep for repeating itself - so if you can make the script unique then go for it.

I say go ahead and write away. At the moment I'm writing a sequal for an old horror called Deathship. It will probably never see the light of day, unless I some day make it. But I write just because I like it, you should do the same.

Yeah. I'm srtugling with another script right now: went to as far as about 30 pages then BOOM writer's block. I'll have to start writing something....anything. I'll probably start with a small script for a small film and see how it goes, then move on to bigger stuff maybe even this multi-personality thingy. But thanks for the encouragement Nightflyer. /ubb/smile.gif
One question for all young (or old) screenwriters here: do u guys use real actors as your characters, coz i do and don't know if it's worth it. I just imagine them in my head acting my characters.

I personally do.
I wrote a script which i'm trying to sell called Atlantis.
I picture Mira Furlan as the one of the female lead roles. I find it easier to write knowing her mannerisms and features.

I actually don't always think of a real actor out there but I picture a real person, either someone I know personally or someone that is known.
The script I'm writing now features a bully, and I can only picture this one bully I knew in high school that everyone feared. It makes it more realistic for me when I write.

Well I guess I'm not the only one then. /ubb/smile.gif
I started writing a script (the one with the 30 pages done) and i put in 8 famous ppl in it, and now whenever i write or read it i can't imagine the characters in any other way then the actors that i assigned to act as them.
One more question: does anyone know where i can get the Magnolia script from the net? I've been looking for it a long time now and i think it will help me alot in writing my own script. Gimme the site plz if u know, thanks.

I have searched in vain for nearly a year on the net, it is just no where to be found (atleast not by me). You may just have to take the path I chose and put forth the 22 or so bucks to buy it. It is certainly worth the dough and has a pretty cool interview with PTA in the back...

Yeah i think i will. I'll have to order it.
Thank's Quentin for the advice!
