Why is Phantasm so hard to find? Is it out of print or what?

if i remember correctly it was part of the whole thing about MGM not releasing films in their correct aspect ratio...i think it may have gone oop after that

ZUNIMAN - I feel for you dude. PHANTASM is my second favourite movie of all time and I'd hate to not own every damn copy available. I currently own all 4 movies on video, special edition dvd and the original on R1 special edition. The R2 limited edition sphere '5 disc' set is on PLAY.COM for about £18. All you need is a dvd player that plays region 2. Not teaching you to suck eggs, but if your player doesn't already do that, there are plenty of ways to upgrade it. :cool:

Fango seems to think that Anchor Bay is suiting up to release:

"Anchor Bay gave Fango the scoop that it has new special-edition DVDs of genre classics PHANTASM and RE-ANIMATOR in the works, with tentative release dates of April 10 for the former and March 20 for the latter. The new discs will be packed with extras distinct from those previously issued by MGM and Elite, respectively; the Bay is working with Don Coscarelli on not only his 1979 original but a deluxe DVD of PHANTASM III as well, also for release on the 10th. As for RE-ANIMATOR, the company has already recorded a pair of new audio commentaries: one by writer/director Stuart Gordon, and the other with producer Brian Yuzna and actors Bruce Abbott, Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton and Robert Sampson. Look for complete details on these as soon as we find ’em out!"

Sweet merciful crap! I read about the phantasm and re-anitor disc but had no idea AB is preparing a phantasm III dvd!

Looks like another double dip for me. :/ I already own the mgm phantasm AND the sphere set.
