Prison
Criminaly underrated 80s haunted prison flick from Renny Harlin. Stars the legendary Kane Hodder, albeit for one scene, as the murderous Charles Forsythe out for revenge, twenty years after being wrongly executed for the murder of another inmate.
Deadly Friend
The only reason I want this out as a special edition is to hear Cravens version of events, I'd like to know exactly why a promising flick turned in to a pile of shit. Rumours are that a directors cut is out there which leans more towards to science fiction minus those stupid gore scenes and ridiculous ending.
Scarecrows
William Wesleys low-budget shocker about a group of armed robbers who end up in a cornfield populated by a clan of hideous living scarecrows.
Low on plot, high on chills, this is a great way to kill ninety minutes, if you can get past the annoying scream-teen.
Come on Santa, gimme what I want you loathsome toad:D

Yup, I agree as far as SCARECROWS goes. I rented this movie when I was about 12 because I loved the cover artwork. I didn't love it, but it was a nice little genre flick that held some decent moments. I can't agree, however, on DEADLY FRIEND. It could've been a much better film, but given the concept, plot and storyline, I can't imagine them pulling it off successfully. It sucked and rightfully so. Never seen PRISON. :(

Halo,
The rumor mill:
Expect a DVD of 'Scarecrows' sometime in 2007
(possible release by Dark Sky Films...)
'Deadly Friend'
There have been conflicting stories on this one, Warner was to release it during 2006---not a S.E. just the film and a trailer. On the other side of the coin---one of the indy DVD companies was going to have it ready for a DVD release the same year.
I'd say the odd's are more in favor of a Warner Bros. barebones affair sometime in 2007. imho-

I have it UNCUT on R2. It doesn't look like it's been remastered, but the grainy look works for me because it gives me that 80's 'video nasty' vibe. Humour me and tell me why UNRATED and UNCUT aren't the same thing?

Bootlegs are available from Dragon Entertainment, I own a copy, it's not a bad rip but the Telecine is a tad too far to the left and there's a fair amount of grain but exactly what you would expect from a VHS rip.
Sorry Morgan I can't agree with you re Deadly Friend, if you've read the book then you'll know it's a modern day teenage-frankenstein story which WORKS!! I agree the movie sucks in places but I blame Warners for meddling with Rubens script and telling Craven how to make films. Like derr!! leave the movie making to the movie makers I say!

I can't read. :(
Ha ha no I haven't read the book, but I'm sure it puts the movie to even further shame. In all fairness it's been a while since I saw it, but the basketball scene was enough for me to make a decision! :p
Remake perhaps? Maybe you should shoot it? ;)

As a matter of fact, and don't laugh! I'm attempting to write a screenplay of my own, which stays more faithful to the novel. I'm not taking it seriously but I've always wanted to try my hand at writing. We'll see:D

Hmm fair play that's very intriguing. I never thought I'd hear somebody say they're going to begin to 'try their hand at writing' with a new adaption of DEADLY FRIEND!!! BUT, it's so crazy it just might work!! Post it yeah? Even early drafts so we can check it out. ;)

I'm not re-writing Deadly Friend, I am attempting to re-adapt Henstells novel 'Friend' I don't understand why you find the premise so diffcult to stomach? Frankenstein works this is another frankenstein tale for the modern world:D

I agree with Scarecrows and Prison. Both are great movies. But Deadly Friend was just plain bad.
Some others that haven't been mentioned that i'd like to see are Lary Cohen's The Ambulance, Night Of The Creeps (of course), The Monster Squad and i'd love to see The Woman In Black appear on DVD again.

Yep all of those you mention are well overdue.
Deadly Friend was good in parts, for instance the first act, but as soon as Samanthas reanimated things go from bad to worse:(

He he yeah well that's just it, has anybody made a good 'modern' adaption of the Frankenstein story? Or even a passable one?
I could be wrong....;)

Damn fucking right. Since some old bag stole my video that was a tv recording, all I have is a copied dvd version from some dude of ebay.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK remains the scariest movie of all time.

Freakin PHANTASM 2
Also, anybody remember two short lived series called NIGHTMARE CAFE and VR.5? Those need to be released.

I remember Nightmare Cafe. Early 90s series from WES CRAVEN which starred ROBERT ENGLUND in a mysterious cafe. Short lived. I think there were actually less than ten episodes produced but I could be wrong. I'd pay to have it though. By the way, we need Return To Sleepaway Camp released already. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

To my knowledge it has never been released. I know there is definitley no box set available here. I wound up getting a VHS transferred to DVD copy at a convention a few months ago but the image quality is pretty shitty. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I picked NOTC on DVD for 5 bucks about a year ago, it is an un-official release by a company that calls itself 'Visions Entertainment'. The DVD isn't widescreen, sadly it is a fullscreen transfer BUT is very nice and clean, plus the disc features the alternate "Cemetery" ending and photo gallery.
Nice cover art to boot!

hopefully this'll be happening soon, especially considering it was one of the films that got a HD transfer, along with Monster Squad, From Beyond and The Burning all of which are getting released
*crosses fingers in hope of news regarding Creeps*

I take it you steered clear of the R2 disc because it's bare bones?
I guess £11 is quite expensive for no extras, even if you do love the film.

I didn't bother with the R2 release because it wasn't an official release and it's a bare bones affair. Wesley's making the effort with HIS release.
