I've got the original The Omen on tv now. I've not seen the remake, so I don't know if this question was answered there or not.
When Damien and the ambassador's son were born at the same time, did the attending clerical doctors know that the son of the devil was being born and murdered the wrong one? The reason I ask is that in the original, the priest who ends up being shishkababed warns Gregory Peck that his adopted son (that no one knows is adopted outside of Gregory Peck and the priest who told him his son was born dead, blah blah blah, if you are answering this post, you know the rest) is the son of the devil, inferring kind of that he didn't cause it, he was just informing him. I wondered because later, they find the baby skeleton with its head intentionally crushed in with the jackal skeleton. Did they intentionally kill the normal boy to switch it with the devil, or did they think they killed the devil's son and only realized they didn't later?
