Enjoyed King's book, he really does know how to make a great villian, a disgusting one.
The movie had the most important parts from the book and fit in what George Romero thought was good, and i thought it was good. Escpecially the brain surgery in the first 10 minutes.
My only complaints are Michael Rooker, his voice and looks are fantastic, he could really play a sick murderer if he wanted to and of course he did in Henry, I just wish he had more to do than just talk.
Your thoughts?

Watched it a year or two ago. I really liked it. If I hadnt seen Secret Window which I didnt like much, I wouldve liked this even more.

Loved the book and the movie, just watched it again last week as a matter of fact. George Stark is a badass villian.
Random guy: "Whats going on out there?!"
Stark: "Murder. Want some?"

Truthfully speaking, I enjoy this movie, and hate it at the same time. Romero explains alot as to why I hate it in an old interview I read on one of the Episodes of "The Directors" as the project was slowly running out of money and everything that was done at the end of the movie was on no budget. The score at the end is reused music from earlier in the film as the composer didn't finish what was supposed to be scored because Orion didn't pay him all that they were supposed to. He really hated the birds as he felt that they looked like crap and they actually had to cut stuff out of the script even though George offered to stay and film the stuff for no money, as George is, but the actors didn't want to do it. Given what was just said, this is also why I love the movie as it is typical Romero magic in the fact that the project ran out of money, but still had that Polished Romero look. Not many directors can pull it off the way George can, but man, he can pull the strings for sure.

The company orion went bankrupt during the making of Dark Half, and the movie was shelved before it was released without much promotion...
I like the movie and T.Hutton makes a great Beaumont/Stark, and Rooker is great as Sherrif Pangborn (later played by Ed Harris in Needful things)
Chris Youngs score is also great and up to par with his Hellraiser score...

Considering all the trouble this project went through, Id say it turned really well! I like this and dont consider it to be Romeros worst.

That's what I am saying. Could have been worse man, look at Season Of The Witch, another movie George has troubles with as it was nowhere close to what he wanted due to budget problems! I truthfully think that movie is easily George's worst film, but it's all a matter of opinion here.
