It'll be nice to hear something new out of him besides a COVER.

His cover of Down in the Park is brilliant. Of course his cover of Personal Jesus sucks ass.

I don't know if I'm digging the title "Eat me, drink me" but I hope it's a step up from "TGAOG" which was pretty medicore in my book. Good excuse to dust off "Antichrist Superstar" and "Mechanical Animals" though.

Should be interesting. I loved "Mechanical Animals" and "HolyWood", in fact I think they`re both GREAT albums. But "Golden Age" was downright embarresing IMO. Definetly his worst album.

I liked Mechanical Animals and HolyWood. Didn't like The Golden Age much. Haven't heard Antichrist Superstar (although I probably should). But I think he's a talented motherfucker so I greet this news with a shit eating grin on my face.

Guess that's what opinions are for - I'm a fan, and enjoy his work, and for the guy that hasn't heard Antichrist Superstar....GO GET IT. it's probably Manson's heaviest, and best album.

I didn't like his first couple albums or Mechanical Animals at all. But I really liked Antichrist, Holywood, and Golden Age, the latter of which featured Tim Skold formerly of KMFDM, and his influence shows.
Look forward to the next.

Isn't Antichrist like his second album?

Third....First was "Portrait of an American family", next was the album length ep "Smells like children", then antichrist, mechanical animals, holywood, golden age of the grotesque, etc.

Well, Smells Like Children is an EP. Which would actually make Antichrist his second album. But it's fucking semantics so whatever.

Okay, so the New Manson cd is out in June....I have a copy now though, and I really like it, it's kind of a love album (if you can believe that), there are a couple of songs on the album that I didn't much care for (Heart Shaped Glasses, being the worst of the lot), but the rest is really good. A decent follow up to TGAOG. 7.5/10

Nice to hear that Heart Shaped Glasses is the worst song on the album because I really didn't like it. I'm a fan of Mechanical Animals and Holywood. Really respected both those albums so i'll give anything he throws out there a go.

Well, as a fan of Manson's (who owns everything Manson's released, including eps, and rare shit), I say buy it for sure, Like all of Manson's albums, it's unlike the last venture. It's not his best work, but it's better than Mechanical Animals (which I like).

I've enjoyed the songs I've heard so far. He needs to get back to the full blown industrial alternative rock he was doing in the mid 90's and not this bs he was doing in the 00's. Has this leaked already?

He does put on a hell of a show. I saw him during Ozzfest '01 in Michigan and it was a great experience. Of course, that's the concert where he rubbed his balls on the security guard's head and got into a little trouble ;)

Yeah, it's leaked, get bittorrent, and go to btjunkie.com - That's how I got it:)

After listening to it, I think it's somewhat of a step up from Golden Age, as I don't dislike most of the album, but there's not a single song I like as much as the songs I like from Golden Age. I still prefer Mechanical Animals by a longshot.

I'm only a few songs into the album but I have to admit, I really like it so far.

Shit, shit, and also, shit. The music is tolerable, but the vocals are wretched. MM wouldn't know a melody if it squirted out of Evan Wood's vagina.

I guess that's what opinions are for....personally, I really like Manson's music, and will continue to do so, admittedly Heart Shaped Glasses is NOT my fave song on the new album, but the cd itself certainly isn't quite as bad as you've described.

Marilyn Manson has never been so.........DULL!
I really like Manson, I`ve been a fan since "Portrait", and the only album I really didn`t like was "Golden Age".
I was really looking forward to hearing what his new 'stripped-down' sound was gonna be like.....and now that I`ve heard it, truth be told it`s actually rather bland and boring.
The music (guitar, bass, and drums) is pretty ho-hum and generic-sounding, the songwriting is NOWHERE near as inspired as past albums......and can someone PLEASE tell me why on earth Manson decided to use that filtered-sounding "reverb" effect on his voice on EVERY SINGLE SONG!!! On past albums he`d use that effect on his voice every now and then, and it was fine. But here he uses it on the entire album!
Some of these songs could`ve been a LOT more effective if he would have used his real voice (go back and listen to some of the quieter songs on past albums).
There are three songs I really like: "Putting Holes In Happiness", "They Said That Hell`s Not Hot", and 'Heart-Shaped Glasses" (although the chrous is pretty annoying).
Some other songs ("Red Carpet Grave", "Mutilation Is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery") could`ve been good, but they just seem so half-assed and uninspired.
This album is better than "Golden Age" (at least he doesn`t try to rap at any point here, LOL), but it doesn`t even touch "Mechanical Animals" or "HolyWood".
I can appreciate the fact that Manson wanted to do something different (songs about failed romances), but somehow it just didn`t work here.
I think maybe part of the problem is that Manson and Tim Skold (who was great when he worked with KMFDM/mdfmk) just don`t gel together very well. I mean they`re both cool, but so far I really don`t think they`re good together.

Sadly what I have heard so far is just below average. I was a huge NIN/Manson fan but this year they have both let me down :(

Did they have a falling out? Because he's with Reznor now and it's pretty well known fact that Manson and Treznor don't get along. It would be really funny if White did that as a big fuck you to Manson.

I dunno, but I was always a fan of Twiggy's as well as Manson's - I was happy to see that his post-Manson career worked out with his inclusion to A Perfect circle, and now Nine Inch Nails (Whose new CD I still need). I DO know that Manson wanted to go in a certain direction, and had Met im Skold, then things went to shit....it reminded me of Zim Zum...Manson had Zim Zum, then met John (5) Lowery, who was in high demand by Rob Halford, and David Lee Roth (among others), and dropped Zim Zum faster than a piece of hot iron.
I like Manson, but he's fickle, and seems to be a musician collector.

My thoughts exactly. This album was just too mellow and boring. Not a single song really stood out. I spun it a few times in my car and gave up.
Bleh.
