What do you all think?

I never even heard about this before to be honest. At first I thought it just looked like another musical with the same old storylines but I really dug the visual look in the second half of the trailer (particularly the last third) and the storyline sounded a little more interesting by the time I got to the end of the trailer...and using Beatles music is a bonus though I didn't like that they just kept switching the song several times in the trailer (especially at the end when they just throw on a line or two from Across the Universe)...also, they of course don't sound as good as the originals but still, could be interesting.

Also, I quite enjoyed the Julie Taymor's last movie (Frida) and Evan Rachel Wood is always a positive in my books...

I'll probably keep an eye out on this, see what kind of reviews it gets but it has a Moulin Rouge-ish feel here and there (tho not as over-the-top)and I loved that so...

I am not that big of a fan of musicals, but that looks pretty good.

I think it looks terrible. There are some really interesting visuals, but the storyline seems so cliched and dull (I actually laughed when the word "original" flashes across the screen), and Beatles covers are so awful.

I'd actually noticed and taken a look at this trailer yesterday, and I must admit, I am quite impressed. Sure, the story doesn't sound any different and far more cliche than the so many other times this specific time period has been translated to film before (Forrest Gump, anyone?), but I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I must say that the visual look of this movie looks absolutely, incredibly stunning. I am slightly interested. It certainly does have a sort of Moulin Rouge type feel to it. We'll see how it fares when it comes out.

Looks cliche but I have a feeling it might be excellent.

Soo this movie is a musical?? I sure didn't get that impresion from the trailer, the movie looks good but I kind of feel like I already saw it after watching that trailer.

I'll keep an eye out for it though, thats for sure.

I'm always up for some trippy visuals and drama -- and this doesn't look like a dissapointment.

And whenever the beatles are involved im in 100%.

I'm not really sure about the movie, but I'd see it for the 5 Salma Hayek's in nurses outfits (http://daveandthomasmovies.blogspot.com/2007/02/coming-soon-across-universe.html)

I'm there. I don't even like The Beatles' music. But I'm so there.

Cringe inducing trailer. The covers are horrible, and combined with the 'GROUNDBREAKING EXCELLENT AWESOME FILM OF THE YEAR' stuff it made everything look worse. It's too bad about the execution, because the idea sounds good.

Honestly, I'm really digging the visual look of this piece the more I watch the trailer, which is enough reason for me to see it. And yeah I cringed at the arrogant crap in the trailer (groundbreaking, etc blahblahblah) but the content looks great, at least imo...

Just a few of the gorgeous shots in the trailer...btw, does anyone know if the first image is a reference to anything, like a Beatles cover or something? I could almost swear I've seen a shot similar to that before somewhere but I can't think where...

Were the rights too expensive? Or is it just funny to Hollywood to shit on EVERYTHING???

I can imagine Mr. Hollywood giggling on the golf course.

"Let's fuck with the Stones next! How about? Fergie! And Death Cab!

"BAHAHAHAHAH."

Yeah, the covers aren't exactly the greatest. They sound kind of hokey.

Visually, it looks fucking marvelous. Story wise? Err...I dunno.

I'll see this because I'm curious, and seeing these visuals on the big screen would be awesome...but I'm not expecting a masterpiece.

I loved the fact that they played She's So Heavy in the trailer. One of the coolest songs ever.

For me, I don't think it's the quality of the Beatles covers as much as there being way too many for that short of a trailer. I also agree with what others have said about the self-promotion - "Most original, blah, blah...." - that is almost insulting in a sense.

I somehow didn't realize it was a musical.

This doesn't seem like a money-grubbing Hollywood movie to me. I wouldn't expect it to do well at the box office.

Anyway, this just became one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I don't see it as "shitting" on the Beatles at all. Plenty of stage musicals have used the music of a single artist or group and created a story around it. Nothing wrong with it in my eyes, and this flick looks great!

their makin the same mistake as i am sam did. i am sam was a great movie and so will this one, but they should have done everything they could to get to use the original beatles versions and not shitty ass covers. i am sam would have been one of my favorite movies ever if they could have used the beatles version and im sure its gonna be the same with this one. the beatles are my favorite band ever by the way

It's a musical. The actors are supposed to sing the songs. It's not just a soundtrack.

I'm certainly no Beatles expert, but I couldn't even tell that they weren't the Beatles versions.

Same here. I liked the way they didnt try to "update" the musid like alot of things do nowadays. (..and usualy make it sound like shit)

I'd heard a friend of mine talking about this - but this is the first time I'd seen the trailer. I was sort of meh about the idea of it, but after watching it - that was awesome. I had no idea...that was not at all what I was expecting, but I'm really interested. It sort of reminds me of Moulin Rogue, I guess.
