In England she abit of a joke, famous dad, whose famous for being a drug adled hanger on and not as an acter, which he does from time to time, shes a rich kid pretending to be street and has all the best people working to ensure her radio friendly unit shifters are drowning all the foolish peoples ears, Its really funny that shes going down a storm in america as it just shows hoe suseptable americans are to marketing.

UGH:rolleyes:
Please get off your high horse attitude with this "silly americans" bullshit. There have been countless amounts of English bands that have failed to get overseas success in the States.

I don't get you. At least not entirely. Don't limit yourself to proclaiming the crapness of British music. 80% of music out there irrespective of where it comes from is shite. Britain is no more nor less guilty of this than any other country. There are plenty of great British bands/artists around just now. I'm not going to bore you by listing them as you seem pretty secure in your opinion. But I will say that you're doing yourself a disservice if this opinion is based solely on stuff that garners mainstream success. If you dig a little deeper you'll discover a rich seam of really cool bands and artists.

You rekon? I think that Ricard Hawley is good and Cocker, Alasdair Roberts is great two, But here in England everyband that come out sounds like bullshit copys of old bands or bullshit novelty reggea like Lilly allen, I hate the Klaxon's, the view, razorlight, the keiser chiefs, the kooks, music is moving backwards, if you listen to can and neu, it still sounds futuristic, listen to dirty pretty things and sounds like a seventies b side, I was just saying that the majority of bands that we export are crap, total crap, I'd rather listen to hasil adkins or harry parch, I want future music not retro shit!

God, it's just like actors. People care more about Tom Cruise's social life than how good an actor he is.

lilly allen music is shit, though she seems like a really nice and funny girl, and shes allways slagging off all her contemporys, but people in glass houses should not through stones, musically lilly allen is rubbish, but atleast shes trying, but she's no amy whinehouse. Allen has a crap voice and her lyrics are like a 13 year old diary entry.

that fact you'd rather take what your given regardless of its musical merit does not make me a snob, does that fact i'd rather not eat burger king make me a food snob?

Yeah...Alasdair Roberts, Richard Hawley and Jarvis Cocker are all amazing. You should also check out (if you haven't already) James Yorkston, King Creosote, Sons & Daughters, The Longcut & Stuart Staples.

I'd rather take what I'm given? Uh, I never said that, because that's not true. If I hear music I like, I listen to it. And I don't judge music based on the singer's personality or background - I judge the music based on how much I enjoy it.
"Musical merit"? Who decides that? You?
And your Burger King example makes very little sense, because fatty foods are unhealthy. Lily Allen is not the equivalent of "fatty foods."

Alright folks...let's not get all heated in here. Musical taste is one of those areas that is entirely subjective. I know someone who gets a great deal of pleasure out of the various music produced by one Celine Dion. Does this make sense to me? No. Do I think she's mad? Yes. Would I deny her the pleasure she gleans from listening to the piss poor drivel that horse faced bitch produces? Absolutely not. Do I have any right to suggest that she has rubbish taste in music? Well I can try but she would rip my bollocks off and feed them to a starving dog. She's just that kind of girl. So lets just try to keep things civilised around these parts...before someone gets their bollocks ripped off and fed to a stray. :D

King Creosote discovered Katie Tunstall? Heh. I don't find her entirely abominable but I wouldn't say i'm a fan neither. I actually saw her play a gig in Avalanche Records in Glasgow about six months before her career started to take off and I was moderately impressed. But she's overplayed and has since become annoying. I've not heard the new Gruff Rhys album...I should rectify the situation asap because I do love me some Super Furry Animals (I have fond memories of seeing them at T In The Park fucking years ago in a tent...they were great). As for Sons And Daughters and their similarity to The Kills. Hmm. I like The Kills a lot but I like Sons & Daughters more. I can see the similarity...but it's nowhere near a facsimile. Stuart Staples is a god. Do you like Tindersticks? I saw them live about ten or so years ago at The Fruit Market in Glasgow. One of the best gigs i've ever been to. A great band and it's nice to see that his solo career has produced some proper good albums. In particular his recent Leaving Songs. Absolutely beautiful.

I saw tindersticks at reading in 95, or 6 not sure and it was a choice between them on the smaller stage, umm was it melody maker, Stewart said "well done you have made the right choice for the evening over there you have men in uderpants with there heads on fire and her you have defined old men in well tailored suits" I love there ninette and boni soundtrack best, though all there albums are amazing!

i love 'alfie' its so catchy and great.i like her music shes awesome.plus what she said about cheryl tweedy from girls aloud as follows below.
i know I've said bad things about people in the past , though the majority of them have been blown wayyyy out of proportion , but this i mean
Cheryl if you're reading this , I may not be as pretty as you but at least I write and SING my own songs without the aid of autotune . I must say taking your clothes off , doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying , your mother must be so proud , stupid bitch .

She ain't as bad as most of the pop shit that's polluting the airwaves, and I find her cute for some reason. I don't really like her attitude though.
