Firstly, if you think "TranceFormers" is "us agaisnt the aliens," I have the ask you, where the fuck have you been over the last year? And more so, where the fuck were you throughout the 80s? It's Transformers, and its robot aliens.
Terminator 4 wont see the light of day anytime soon.
According to IMDB The Final Equation was released in 2005.
The Book Of Skulls is more Horror/suspense than Sci-fi, so is The Number 23 for that matter.
Sunshine is from the director of 28 Days Later and Trainspotting, so Im expecting something cool, but its either going to be really cool or suck a la The Core.

With the Star Wars franchise over and Star Trek left in mediocrity by the 2 last films I wish there was a fresh new Space based Sci-Fi franchise out there. The Fifth Element started that but was meant to be a one hit wonder. We need a new Space Odyssey with colorful alien worlds, original characters, ray guns and light speed starships. A third big thing is required, I miss that sort of Sci-Fi cinema.

Meh. Nothing too promising. This year we had some great science fiction movies but they were all near future and not traditional science fiction with spaceships and alien worlds - V for Vendetta, A Scanner Darkly and of course Children of Men. Hopefully James Cameron will put the genre back to the scene with his Avatar and Battle Angel movies.
And the upcoming remakes of Logan's Run, Farenheit 451 and the long-awaited adaptation of Ender's Game (when will that get off the ground already ) look promising. But other than that, at least out of those mentioned on your list, I'm not really expecting much from any of them.

I'd like to see C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy adapted, but it would be very difficult.
Out of the Silent Planet
Perelandra
That Hideous Strength
It is intellectual sci-fi in the vein of Blade Runner and Dune.

Would make good sci-fi movies, the novels were written by 2 Germans in 1961. The material is a good mix of StarWars, StarTrek and X-men. I read about 20 of their novels about 12 years ago; very good and quite adictive material. It would probably be a hit. I think they wrote close to 150 to 200 novels.

Transformers looks like it will kick ass!
And I can't wait to see what JJ Abrams is going to do with the next Star Trek flick.
