Is Anchor Bay going release season sets of Masters Of Horror or are they just going to continue with individual DVDs releases?

From what i can find. It will continue to be the individual releases...But im sure they will throw out the sets eventually.
I gave up on buying them. I think I have about eight. The last few I picked were not too good so I lost interest. However, there are still some that I want to check just havn't really felt like spending the money on.

Over here in the UK Season One has been released in two parts, one with 7 stories, the other with the remaining six, all of the movies containing the same extras as on the US individual releases.
Looking forward to Season Two with great anticipation!

Well, don't worry, as soon as I buy the last 4 in season 1, they'll release a box set. Always seems to happen. I buy a DVD, and 2 weeks later, a 2 disk SE comes out... dewsh.
I've only been disappointed with one of them so far, and that was Imprint.

They can probably just make more money releasing them individually than releasing a set. I have a feeling that when sales start to dip past a certain point you can expect to hear news of a box set. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

GLAFLIGGITYFUCKER!!
See my above post? Yea... just saw in the new catalog, that on Aug 28, the Masters Of Horror Season 1 "Crypt" Box set comes out. 14 disks total. 13 movies and an "Interview/Delete Scenes/Misc" disk... see... SEE!!! I freaking knew it!
Oh well, at least I know what I'll be buying in August. :D
No info online yet, but it'll come.

Yeah it was only natural that eventually they would be making a box set. Luckily for me I only own two episodes total (Dance of the Dead and Deer Woman) so I may be picking this up somewhere down the line. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The CN buyer cost is $99 in the catalog, so I'm guessing around that, probably on the high end like $120 retail. Either way, it beats paying $20 a piece for them... ahem... no, I didn't. I actually only bought 5 new for about $15 average, and the rest, I got mint new for around $5 each... boogers!!

Here is an article that I have lifted directly from Creature-Corner about the upcoming box set:
Anchor Bay will release a comprehensive Masters of Horror: Season One box set on August 28, 2007 . While a season set has been available to Region 2 consumers for a while now, the thirteen episodes from the first season have only been available individually here in the United States. The new set is surprisingly cooler than the Region 2 set. Take that orb-shaped Phantasm set! Housed in a mausoleum-themed box, the fourteen disc set includes all thirteen films from the show's inaugural season, including Takashi Miike's Imprint, and a fourteenth disc that includes several never-before-seen special features.
According to Fangoria, production will be limited to 20,000 units with a MSRP of $79.97. There is no word on what kind of set, if any, will be sold once the initial 20,000 sets are gone. I'd imagine that if more sets are produced, they'll have a more traditional look to them.
If you haven't had an opportunity to get acquainted with Masters of Horror, Creature Corner has reviewed several DVD releases from the first season to help you sort through what many have called a hit and miss assortment of horror films.
And here is the sweet looking box set itself:

Damn does that look cool!
Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Not really into made-for-cable horror but I did buy Takashi Miike's IMPRINT on stand alone DVD. I love that guy's work. He doesn't know the meaning of the word "boundary". No one does torture like Miike. That's why Roth casted him as a cameo client in Hostel.
It says BANNED FROM CABLE BROADCAST on the cover but I think it's because of Billy Drago's acting :D Nah! Seriously , the needles under the finger scene is really gross ( no cheap shock here , we have 10 fingers remember )
I'll check others on rental, probably Argento,Carpenter and the one with hot local ass Lucie Laurier ... Chocolate is the name I think. Then maybe I'll get the box set if i still like the concept.

Which do you guys think are the best of the Master of Horror? I haven't seen any of them and wondering if it's worth buying the boxed set at all.

Well, I'm a dork, and I like'm all... but not love...
INCIDENT ON AND OFF A MOUNTAIN ROAD
PICK ME UP
SICK GIRL
CIGARETTE BURNS
FAIR HAIR CHILD, THE
DEER WOMAN
HAECKEL'S TALE
DREAMS IN THE WITCH HOUSE
DANCE OF THE DEAD
CHOCOLATE
JENIFER
HOMECOMING
IMPRINT
Best to worst. I put Imprint at the end, only cause it was SO disappointing. It laid a turd for the first 45min, then raged on like a rabid Nun for the last 15... too little too late.
Incident is my fave, only cause I love the pace... and am in love with Bree Turner... that aside, it was a great flick. Homecoming was just too political for my tastes.
And with that said, I think I'm going to watch Sick Girl again... :D

I thought "The Black Cat" from the second season was the best. From the first season, I'd have to go with Cigarette Burns or Jenifer. I think their worth the buy, even some of the more mediocre ones (Dance of the Dead, the one where the guy's hearing is super sensitive and the name is eluding me right now) come jam packed with special features, which includes interviews and commentaries with the master's themselves (Landis, Gordon, Carpenter) pretty sweet in my mind.

I have every episode now, first and second season. Shit, I've got 2 copies each of season 1. Singles and the box set. Overall season 1 was awesome, but season 2 was a huge letdown. Off the top of my head, I can say probably Family was the best ep in season 2.
