Kiefer Sutherland Faces Mirrors
Source: Variety February 6, 2007

Kiefer Sutherland will spend his "24" hiatus starring in Mirrors, a supernatural thriller to be directed by Alexandre Aja, reports Variety. New Regency is financing the film and will distribute through 20th Century Fox.

Sutherland became available to star in the movie when plans to carry his Jack Bauer character into a "24" feature were postponed because the script wasn't ready. Fox won't start the clock on that film until next summer, when Sutherland completes the seventh season of the show.

In Mirrors, Sutherland will play an ex-cop who works security at a mall and discovers something awry in the mirrors of a department store. He tries to discover the origin of the evil.

The producers are Marc Sternberg, Alexandra Milchan and Gregory Levasseur. Andrew Hong is executive producer.

Aja, who last directed the hit genre remake The Hills Have Eyes, wrote the most recent draft of the script. Shooting starts on May 1 in Romania.

I'm a little disappointed that the 24 movie will have to wait at least a year (I've actually heard that it might not happen until the show ends though which would suck) but it'll be cool to see Kiefer Sutherland in a different kind of movie and hopefully his character won't be similar too Jack Bauer like his last movie role was (The Sentinel).

His character in the sentinel was nothing like jack bauer. The only similarity was that they were hardworking government agents. Jack Bauer doesn't play by the book, David Breckenridge does.

EDIT: As for this movie... Oh my shit.

On paper they are totally different characters, but the way Sutherland played the character, he might as well have been a clone of Jack Bauer.

i disagree.
bauer has an intensity that breckenridge or whatever the fucker's name didn't have.

Aja and Kiefer working together ensures my ticket purchase.

I really dont even have to know what the movie is about beforehand.

I was a big fan of the Hills Have Eyes remake that Aja did. I cannot wait for this.

I think Aja is the best up and coming horror director at the moment, although I didn't think the end result of Hills Have Eyes was anything special. He had moments that were better than the whole. That said, I'm looking foward to this. Sutherland in a horror again with Aja behind the camera. Should be very interesting.

Pretty much.

Its good to have Kiefer back in the horror genre. It won't surpass the greatness of Lost Boys, but it could still be quite awesome.

This is a remake of the korean flick "Into the mirror". The original was pretty good, but I always thought that the whole was less than the sum of it's parts. In other words: Good ideas and good scenes, but it never added up to anything special.

So I think it's exactly a kind of movie that is ripe for a remake, especially with this talented people making it. And from what I've read Aja has changed the script quite a deal from the original.

I'm very interested in seeing Aja tackle what is essentially a haunted house movie. He has talent to burn, and I'm happy if he moves a bit away from gory slasher movies.
