Financial Times reports that Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, has revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen will do a "Borat" sequel at the company's 20th Century Fox after he completes Bruno for Universal Pictures.

Cohen will next play fashion victim alter ego Bruno from "Da Ali G Show." Murdoch said Fox was not prepared to outbid other studios for Bruno because Cohen would not show the script.

After the film is done, Cohen will "come back and do Borat 2," Murdoch said during an interview at a conference in New York.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan was made for just $18 million and earned $248 million worldwide.

i LOVE Borat... but a sequal.. how?! I mean, dont get me wrong.. im sure it will be fucking awesome, cuz i dont think Sacha Baron Cohen is capable of NOT being funny as hell... but are they going to do a traditional movie.. or if not, HOW are they going to find schlups who havnt even HEARD of the first one??

I think it's a bad idea as well but we'll see what he can come up with.

As much as I'd love to see a sequel since I nearly died from laughing so hard during the first one, I don't know how he can pull it off due to the international success of the first movie and the fact that barely anyone doesn't know his name.

Ouch. A sequel would probably ruin his blooming career.

Yeah, they'll really need to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find people given Borat's popularity.

This is stupid. I loved the first movie. But c'mon.

This could just be a big psyche out.

Get everyone ready to see Borat walking around and have Sacha Baron Cohen catch people off guard as a different character.

I could see that happening.

I would love to see a Borat sequel but it will be tough to find people who do not already know who he is. I'm guessing this installment will take place in another country where less people would know who he is.

im there first night. it'll prolly take place in a different country but keep in mind, theres A LOT of people in this country. youd be surprised how many people have no idea who he is. its possible that he has unused film from the first with the intentions of making a sequel from it??

No way this is gonna happen. And if it does they might as well make it into a trilogy where the third one teams Borat up with Mr.Bean.

I certainley hope it does.

Am I really the only one who totally hated this movie and wishes Sasha Baron Cohen would just go the hell away? A sequel to Borat sounds about as dumb as, well, Borat .

Come on, not everyone is under 35 and hangs out at Joblo.com - there are plenty of people who have no idea who or what Borat is.

But I find it particularly odd that Rupert Murdoch of all people is revealing this news. Uh, doesn't that guy have bigger, more important things to do - like run News Corps. than to talk about one of Fox's many hit movies?

That's kinda like when the head of Viacom sounded off on Tom Cruise. These guys run ginormous conglomerations, what are they doing medling in the day to day operation of the movie business?

this was all debunked a few days ago... apparently Murdoch spoke out of turn.. because apparently this was all news to Sasha Baren Cohen and another person who would be in charge of getting this made.

So it probably isnt happening.

I'll try and find the article i read about it being just a rumor.. i thought i read it on the Joblo main page

Last i heard this was NOT happening. I think it was just rumors getting ahead of themselves.
