It's the first movie to feature Hannibal Lecter; it's based on Red Dragon. It's a really good movie directed by Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral). The cast does a terrific job and the story is well played out. But if you've seen Red Dragon, you've seen this one; though this one is better.

I've heard some people call Silence of the Lambs a sequel to Manhunter - though I wouldn't consider it.

I thought this sucked. Michael Mann's second worst movie after Maimi Vice. Mann usually makes very stylish movies but this movie was completely flat. It was like your ordinary and very dull police procedule. Apart Joan Allen, who was very good and Dennis Farina who was also good, the rest of the cast was poor. William Peterson, Brian Cox and Tom Noonan were all incredibly bland and boring. And the ending of this movie was stupid. When Peterson jumps through the window and gets himself shot while doing so, I laughed my ass off. Red Dragon was superior in every way imaginable.
4/10
