I havn't listened to all of "Geogaddi", but I do own "The Campfire Headphase", which I am a huge fan of. Maybe I'll illegally download that "Geogaddi."

I love these guys. I still need to get this album, I'm sure it kicks ass.

I like Music Has the Right to Children a bit more, but Geogaddi is awesome as well. My favourite tracks are Julie and Candy and Music Is Math.

I've only really gotten into them in the last couple months even though I've had campfire headphase/geogaddi/music has the right to children on my comp for a year now. And I dig...

I know lots of people love Music Has The Right but for me Geogaddi is just way, way, way superior to anything Boards of Canada has put out except perhaps the Beautiful Place EP. I like Geogaddi and think its one of the greatest albums because its an incredibly consistent and evocative work as an album, not just as individual songs. Even then, the individual songs are terrific. Both The Campfire Headphase and Music Has The Right are excellent and somewhat happy. They seem to channel better times, innocent memories, a sense of peace. Even in its darkest moment (Turquoise Hexagon Sun) MHTR is relatively upbeat. But there's something about Geogaddi that's intensely creepy, moody, and bleak, yet punctuated by some moments of absolute beauty. The album that it most reminds me of is Radiohead's Kid A. IIt captures Kid A's feeling of the world being cold, distant, and too 'modern' yet its menace is not only from that, but from the world as being populated by humans. There's something beautiful about BoC's use of voice samples throughout the album. With the possible exception of "Music Is Math" which is merely ok, every actual SONG on the album is beautifully crafted. Gyroscope, Julie and Candy, and Sunshine Recorder are bleak and unrelenting. 1969 is tremendous, Dawn Chorus is one of the most spectacular songs I've heard, Alpha and Omega's synths are beautiful and foreboding, and Corsair ends the thing in such an evocative, depressing feeling that... I dunno. Basically my point is this: The Campfire Headphase and Music Has The Right To Children are excellent albums as music and they've very catchy and fun, but Geogaddi goes beyond that and, taken as a whole, is probably the album that conjures up the most images and feelings about the world at large that I've ever heard. There's something about it that goes beyond music and just channels many, many things about the world to me. It almost feels like it should be the soundtrack to something like Koyaanisqatsi. I can't possibly recommend an album more. Even when the songs aren't that strong melodically they just make me FEEL.

It's almost like Boards of Canada generally try to channel either happy, natural things or opressive, modern things. I tend to prefer the modern things. Their last EP, Trans Canada Highway, had two superb songs that I think perfectly evoke being in a BIG-ASS CITY.

I felt CampfireHheadphase was a little weak but Dayvan Cowboy was stunning, and the totally synth based tracks were excellent. If you don't like Tears..., I dunno what to say.

I really... REALLY like Peacock Tail.

... So, I really need to get my hands on Geogaddi. Maybe I'll download it first, then... if the time is right, purchase it for my own.

Mostly, I'm still a little bitter that The Campfire Headphase cost me $26. Worth it, but really costly for a single album.

I heart boards of canada..

Having Music Has the Right to Children, Geogaddi and The Campfire Headphase, I gotta say, this is one solid group. All of their music get top-notch reviews from me.

But if I had to put one word to each album, it would be:

Music Has the Right to Children - "Nostalgia"
Geogaddi - "Subconscious"
The Campfire Headphase - "Dream"

I love all of their work.
