hey i dunno if you guys have heard of this band. some awesome guy i know hooked me up with their albums. they play lo-fi folk music and they are seriously excellent. their album 'how to survive in + in the woods' reminds me of a happier, poppier devendra banhart's 'oh me oh my'. If you like lo-fi folk, give this band a shot. Their melodies are gorgeous and quirky.

I've never heard Take A Look Inside although I did like Dare To Be Surprised and One Part Lullaby a lot (and their contributions to the Kids soundtrack). How does it compare to the latter two albums?

Well as much as I like the second and third folk implosion records I'd be silly if I started to campare them to take alook inside, for the reason that take a look inide is in a league of its own, its warm and fuzzy and fun, it has no tiny hip hop beats or gimicky samples, its a master piece, Its total lo fi bliss, much like pavements early stuff or even beat happening, the first make up album, its fun its raw and its natural, the woods are channeling the same vibes, I like them, there good, like when you heard your first modern lovers lp or your fist televison song, I'm clearly in an ok mood today.

Clearly. Ok..I like early Pavement so i'm gonna have to check this out. I'll probably end up starting a Folk Implosion/Sebadoh thread because i've been a while since i've listened to any Lou Barlow, new Dinosaur Jr album notwithstanding, and that can't be a good thing.

I'll be checking out Woods too. Sounds interesting.

the woods are nice, I think new york seems to have alot of nice music going on, I think, i'm waiting for the new herman dune album which is out soon, when is the new dinosaur coming out, I love sebadoh up to the final album, and jason turned into a black sabath tribute, dinosaurs first album is amazing as is bug as is everthing they did, I'm glad I never liked shit bands like alice in chains or stone temple douchebags, or for that matter the smashing plumpegos

Heh...I actually liked GIsh and Siamese Dream (still do actually). But everything they did after was a mess. Stone Temple Pilots and Alice In Chains are a wholly different state of affairs. They succeeded only in being thoroughly mediocre (and that's me being charitable).

The new Dinosaur Jr album has leaked but it officially hits the record stores at the beginning of May. My favorite Dinosaur Jr album is perversely one they recorded after Lou Barlow left. Where You Been is, outside of Neil Young's best work with Crazy Horse, the most breathtaking guitar album i've heard.

Have you heard either of J Mascis' two albums as J Mascis & The Fog? You should check out his collaboration with Kevin Shields that conludes the second Fog album. The song and album are called More Light and it sounds not unlike what it must be like to find yourself stuck between a dozen tornados. Brilliant noise.

Oh...and for the record. I actually quite liked The Sebadoh. It's admittedly nowhere near as good as Bubble & Scrape, Sebadoh III, Bakesale and Harmacy...but...y'know...I still kinda like it.

It's called Beyond. And it's pretty furious stuff. He even lets Lou take the vocal reigns a couple of times. It's pretty much classic Dinosaur Jr. Better than anything that came after Where You Been and arguably as good as anything that came before.

Install DC++ and go to the Ind!ous Indie life hub. Do a search there and you'll get it no problem. It's the best place to find leaked stuff. If you need a hand setting the software up let me know.

No...it's a file sharing client a bit like Soul Seek. Install it and if you need any help setting it up just ask away.

I find I regress mentally when I listen to albums from my more youthful years. Then I catch a glimpse of a relflection and sigh. Fucking ageing. When are the cunts going to find a cure for it?

Tha'ts fine. Just hit the VIEW option at the top of the page then select Public Hubs from the drop down menu. On the next screen you need to set up you Public Hub Lists. Hit the configure button and add the following...

http://www.dc-resources.com/downloads/hublist.config.bz2

Then hit refresh. It will bring up a massive list of available hubs. Type Indie into the the filter box and on the resultant filtered selection of hubs there will be one called Ind!ous Indie life.

Double click on that and you will enter that hub. Once in hit the search button and search for Dinosaur Jr Beyond. Everything should be simple from here on in. If you have any further problems just ask away.

Hope this helps.

Could be a firewall problem...you'll have to open up your firewall software and open the port that DC++ uses. See if it works after that.

Before you do anything btw you should go into settings (it's on the file drop down) and configure the software. It's pretty straightforward.
