1. The Birth and Death of The Day
2. Welcome, Ghosts
3. It's Natural To Be Afraid
4. What Do You Go Home To?
5. Catastrophe and the Cure
6. So Long, Lonesome
This comes out February 20th, 2007. I've heard a leaked copy, and it's absolutely beautiful, just like their previous albums. I highly recommend it to everyone.
They are also on, or are going to be on a USA tour w/ The Paper Chase (another sweet band!). Check them out. I get to see them in Omaha, NE, on 3/30/07 and I cannot wait!

The sound of the guitars is stunning. I would like to know what they record with.

I'm guessing they use a very clean sound with some kind of chorus, flange or maybe even some reverb. Their guitars have such an ethereal sound to them. I get shivers listening to their shit.

They don't impress me much. Same routine, every album.
DMST is better.

Who Explosions?
At their best, they still can't touch Mogwai, Slint, DMST or Godspped in the realm of post-rock.

I saw these guys open up for blonde redhead and I was terribly unimpressed. They never really sounded like they had their own sound. They did step it up though when they came on stage for a 20 minute jamfest with Blonde Redhead, that made my night.

They may have the same routine, but I think they do it really well.
I've thought about it, and Explosions are definitely my favorite instrumental band. I feel the most emotion listening to them.

While it's no secret that Godspeed is the best of the best when it comes to post rock bands, Explosions is still a very talented band.

This is a very good album, but yes in the realms of post rock where there are so many great bands their are many better than Explosions In The Sky.

They are so incredibly boring, as are all the other Godspeed/Mogwai rip-offs. I can't even listen to them anymore, as much as I love them, seemingly all of the new "experimental" rock bands in the last five years have completely ripped off their formulas but aren't half as moving (seriously, listen to the first and last sides of Lift Your Skinny Fists and then listen to any of Explosions' stuff, it simply does not compare).

Why are people playing a broken record in this thread? We know that EITS are not as good as Mogwai or Godspeed. Doens't mean that they are not a good band.

slints instumental ep is actually where this formula started, slint are the winners yeah!
David pajo is the only post rockr worth his beans ok, get it, yeah good

Yes, but they take on the same formula, but it's so less enthralling to me even after listening to their second album ten times.

I wouldn't call Explosions in the Sky a Godspeed/Mogwai rip-off at all. Just because a band is instrumental doesn't mean they're ripping off Mogwai or Godspeed. All three of those bands sound completely different. I think Explosions in the Sky bring something new to the "instrumental" table.

Kind of. All of those band's formula is being mainly instrumental. It may not have been what you meant, but there are a lot of people out there who feel that Explosions are just ripping off Mogwai and Godspeed, because they're also instrumental.

Godspeed are better, but I don't feel like listening to dense. demanding 30-minute epics all the time.
I loved "The Earth Is Not A Cold Place", but didn't really like "those who tell the truth shall die....(long ass title)" ---Would I like this or not?

I saw them at this allnightr in Elephant put on by Keiren Hebdon, Manatoba, papa m, animal collective and some others they were as good as ac, the only bad it was Hebdon's dj set, he was just playing bits of rounds but mashing it up with a choas pad!
