Being that it is winter here, I was wondering, what movies do you associate with winter? Last week, it was subzero here so I watched The Thing. The only other that I can think of is The Fearless Vampire Killers.

There's a mystery/slasher/winter movie with Sylvester Stallone called "Eye See You." It was made in the late 90's/early 00's. It was meant for theatrical release, but it was instead released straight-to-video in 2001/2. For all it's worth, it's decently enjoyable movie. Not great, but not awful by any means (Arrow was greatly disappointed, but others here differ).

Sly plays a cop trying to track down a serial killer. He ends up in a rehab far out in the wintery country when he gets burnt out by the investigation. Guess who also shows up for a little rehab?

One movie I love to see in the winter setting is a regular old "Friday The 13th" movie. Jason is back at Crystal Lake, there have been more murders and disappearance over the years, and that's all that matters. No "what about Manhattan/Hell/space/Springwood" bullshit, he's just there period!

For one, it would be refreshing to see Crystal Lake in the whiter setting. Two, the blood would mix very well with the snow. And three, it could provide writers with an opportunity to write an honestly scary script with at least two-dimensional characterizations for the "naughty teenagers." An F13 movie CAN be scary, all you have to do is write it that way.

Crap, I forgot about those other ones!

Uh, yeah, "Silent Night, Deadly Night" is a classic! This is the best of the "killer Santa" sub-sub-genre.

Personally, I always felt "The Shining" was disappointing. Same with TV remake with Steven Weber. It had some gnarly things over the blah Kubrick version, but it still misses the mark.

"Jack Frost" is as craptacular and so-bad-its-good as it gets.

what about Gingerdead Man? I haven't seen it but I'm sure it takes place around Christmas, ya know with the killer gingerbread man and all.

Can't argue too much, Kubrick can get boring with his drawn out visuals. Still the eeriness, tone, and character driven madness of Stephen King make it one of my favorites…plus it’s got snow in it.
