Here's the deal:

I'm moving to England next October for school, and I need some of my fellow UK friends to recommend some good British Music so I don't look like an ignorant ass when I get there.

Take a look at my profile to see what I like, perhaps you could use the list as some sort of reference, or something.

Here (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56181725) is a link to some of my old music, if that helps any too...

Or you could recommend me what ever the hell you want to... either way.

Myspace page a plus...

Thanks for the help.

From Arizona to England…Nice. You must ground yourself in their roots; Clash, Sex Pistols, Pogues, etc. and watch a lot of Monty Python!

Don't bother just learn when you get here, and all the best music comes from america anyway, my favorite band is Herman Dune they are Swedish and are very americanised.

I do enjoy The Smiths... though Morrissey I don't listen to all that often. Thanks..

Clash i have on the list (the extended version), as do I have Sex Pistols... never heard of Poques, though. I'll check them out.

And Monty Python are fucking gods.

Well, I'm trying to diversify as much as I can, in as little time as possible. It's what I do. And as much as I don't care about what other people think of me, I do like to know whats going on in the "local" music scene so I don't look like a total douche...

Keep them coming folks. And sling some newer shit at me... some shit that I won't recognize.

Thanks.

Of course they aren't that "popular" anymore, he said "ground yourself in their roots". That would be older music. You do know music exists outside of the current generation, right?

actully, tyler_durden_208 thats what he sed , he asked for anything, newer or older, he also asked for the more recent stuff, and i gave him it, i was only trying to help, i really dnt know wot the fuck your problem is with me???

if you want older bands to talk about then iron maiden is very popular, nirvana, slayer, also some people like slipknot, but you best off going with the british rock like i sed before razorlight, snow patrol and kasabian, but on a whole british kids like all the american stuff, all the rock, we get it all on tv over here, so dnt worry you wnt have a problem

I heard Peter Noone died recently, but I couldn't find anything online to suggest this was true. Freddie Garrity from Freddie & The Dreamers died mind...I think somebody got their early 60's Manc bands mixed up and had the poor bastard 6 feet under.

Hermans Hermits are a bit too 'peppy' for me...like Manfred Mann and The bloody Dave Clark Five. I LOVE some songs, but listening to a full album is like being intravenously pumped with Sunny D.

From the Brit invasion lot I much prefer The Zombies, The Yadbirds, Donovan at al...but Peter Noone was in Coronation Street so he earns instant cool points for that alone.

Oh shit, definitely familiarize yourself with XTC. What a great, great band. If you end up liking them, check out the record they did under the guise of Dukes of Stratosphere. Some neat psychadelic 60's-ish stuff going on there.

Everyone should at least hear Drums & Wires along with Skylarking, though. And English Settlement.

And Black Sea.

And The Great Express.

And Apple Venus.

And I think you get the idea. :p
