Moviehole spoke to Terry Rossio, one of Hollywood's most in-demand screenwriters, who touched on a possible fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film. Here is a clip from the interview.

Tell us how Keith Richards is faring over there?
"Well you don't hire Keith Richards to get a guy who shows up in the morning, on time wearing a suit and tie. You get a guy who shows up at night, on time, with a bottle of wine. There were good times on the set."

Online rumors say this is the final "Pirates" movie - but I'm sure Disney has other plans. What do you think? Any more 'Pirates' movies left in you?
"It's like the fourth Indiana Jones picture. There are forces in play to make it happen, and forces in play to make it not happen. I think we will try to write a screenplay. I can't say if we'll be able to solve the challenge of making a good fourth film, or if our screenplay will be enough to get a film made."

For now, you can catch "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" on May 25th, 2007, or if you're planning on heading to Disneyland, you can catch it there on May 19th.

ok indiana jones can have a 4th movie because the main storylines dont connect, and i think its pretty evident that pirates is gonna round out a nice trilogy, which i would prefer, i love the movies but i dont want it to go overboard

Please dont stop at 3 , i cant get enough of this , these films are important to not only the financial well being of hollywood but to mankind's existence , i want at least 10 films , you can never get sick of feminized pirates , a wooden lead and an uptight ingenue who cant even legally drink in the united states yet , or can she ? Ah , no matter , please Disney , if you don't keep on making these amazing films , i don't know what i'll do with myself , my entire existence , my life , all that i hold dear will be utterlly meaningless . So , to the screenwriters , i beg of you , keep on ripping off ideas from other films , theres loads of material to be hacked , and dont worry , the visual effects and aggresive soundtrack will be enough of a distraction for people to overlook the blatant lifting of ideas .

I really hope they dont make more than 3. Three is a nice round number. You tell a big story, you get your sequels, and you appease the geeks because everything cool involves the number three. When you make 4 or more you start to risk staleness. You enter the realm of "That shit should have ended two movies ago"-dom.

well, if the third film is as entertaining as the first 2 and they keep the cast, i'd be happy to see more

Mr. Rossio has spoken about this interview on his blog. He said he did not say a 4th movie was in the works or being written. It's a possibility, I guess, but it's not something that is in the pipeline. No script and no actors and no immediate plans for #4. He did mention that entertainment reporting is very seldom truthful or dealing with facts. It's rumors and how can we turn a few quotes into a story we want to push.

A fourth is very unnecessary. Well I guess I can't say that 100% for sure since I haven't seen number 3 yet. But it's a safe bet.

No way! Let Pirates of the Caribbean stay as a trilogy.

I dont think so. They said before that this would end the PIRATES Trilogy, so if a part 4 does crop up id expect a part 5 and 6 to go with it as a new trilogy.

Id love to see a movie about an aged Jack Sparrow, bopping around the high seas like Don Coyote or something.:)

And you really believe that , about the no cliffhanger thing ? :D

It doesn't matter , they can make up anything to justify another set of films , so long as Depp comes back , people will see it . What i'm really waiting for , is for Lucasarts to capitalize on this renewed interest in Pirates , and make another Monkey Island game , something i feel has heavily influenced the Pirate franchise .

I have a feeling one of the undead monkeys is going to do something to save everyone towards the end and in the process , he will lift the curse on his fellow simians :) .
