Tis a good 'un. But (and I know i've mentioned this before) you really should check out James Yorkston (if you haven't already). He's a little less fragile that Alasdair Roberts but...well...y'know...you really should check him out.

Don't apologise. Everyone hears different things in music. But the Jools Holland comment stings nonetheless. :D

Yeah...I must admit that with the last series of Later I found myself recording it and fast forwarding through the majority of each show only tuning in for the stuff that interested me (which was few and far between). There are a loads of decent bands around just now that he should be getting on rather than the tripe he generally populates the show with.

You menion Afghan Whigs who were a fucking great band. Did you hear last year's Twilight Singers album? It's the closest Dulli has got to matching his finest moments with the Whigs. I breathed a sigh of relief because although I found the previous Twilight Singers albums sporadically interesting they just didn't have the cohesive brilliance on display in Congregation, Gentlemen and Black Love.

PJ Harvey is another favorite of mine but I found her last album to be too much of a self conscious attempt to get back to her more abrasive roots after the more approachable Stories From The City. Which was unfortunate because I think she's one of the most interesting female artists working today. Fingers crossed she gets back on track with her next album.

As for Rod Stewart and Elton John? Heh. Nothing to be ashamed of (unless we're talking about the Rod that recorded Do You Think I'm Sexy and the Elton that recorded Nikita).
