I haven't checked the Def Jux web site for a few months and I was floored with the huge ad they had running as you entered it. The New El P album is due out March 20th and some of the guest musicians contributing include Trent Reznor, Cat Power, The Mars Volta, and of course Label mate Aesop Rock. I officially can't wait for march 20th now.

On an another interesting note I read an article that mountain Goat John Darnielle is going to be appearing on Aesops forthcoming album. That sounds a bit odd but really appealing at the same time. Both musicans are on my list of favorite lyricists so I can't wait to see how the two genres blend.

I really have to give credit to Def Jux for keeping hip hop interesting while the people championing their scene are failing so miserably at creating quality hip hop.

People at the NIN boards have been going nuts over this for almost a year now. I haven't heard the songs yet, but that line up might be too good to pass up.

The Album is allright. It's not fantastic but it's an ok listen. El P is rivaled only by Dan the Automater when it comes to creating beats but lyrically he's always come across in the mediocre range. This album is no different, the production on it is staggering but once he starts m.c.-ing it just doesn't sit well with me. This album is worth at least one listen to though if only to appreciate his skills in weaving back beats.

I heard the song that Trez does vocals on and it fucking blows. Oh well, hopefully his guest spot on the new QOTSA album kicks ass.
