Like, the UK SE of Don't Look Now is 100x better than the single-disc US bare bones edition.

Easy. The region 2 FRIDAY THE 13th from WARNER BROS is way better than PARAMOUNT'S piss poor region 1 edition. It's UNCUT!!!!! :D You poor geezers in the states can only get the UNCUT footage as part of the CRYSTAL LAKE TO MANHATTAN boxset, and that's as an extra!

The Hellraiser Puzzle box set, although flimsy and tough to close......it's still the fucking puzzle box!!

Switchblade Romance, Region 2 Optimum Release (High Tension, Haute Tension) Cooler packaging, and a better dubbed track, not to mention the DVD art itself is far superior.

Almost any Tartan Asia Extreme Region 2 release

I got the R2 Silent Hill DVD a while back and the picture quality is shitty as.. will, shit.

Is the region 1 any better?

The picture quality on the R1 is beautiful...what are the extras like on the R2?

The R2 (Optimum/Studio Canal) DVD of Don't Look Now excells in almost every department: a sparkling transfer, a decent selection of extras, the animated menus are cool, and there's a nice little booklet in the case. The only part about it that sucks is the quality of the audio.

The R2 DVD of Deranged is uncut (although the quality of the sole missing scene is noticeably inferior to the rest of the movie), and has some nice extras dealing with both the movie and the real-life Ed Gein case on which the movie is based.

The xtras are decent. I think they're the same as the R1 xtras, but I still need to make sure (I'm not home at the moment).

Seriously though I am jealous. You guys get FRIDAY 2 uncut? I hear that, along with THE NEW BLOOD, is the most edited film in the franchise. And don't get me started on those awesome Phantasm and Hellraiser box sets. Urgh... Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Ooops. I read that post wrong. Yeah I already knew about the original. It would be nice if Parts 2 and 7 above all others were remastered and uncut. It's nice to dream. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Undead (2003) region 4 DVD PAL--- the DVD copy I own is a conversion transfer, making it region free. ;)

Friday the 13th part 7 has the most heavy-handed and deliberate cuts in so many of the kill scenes. The cuts draw attention to themselves, its that bad.

Have you seen the uncut footage on the FRIDAY box set? MY GOD, when JASON gets a hold of the one dude and crushes his head... that is the best kill in the franchise! And we never got to see it. Damn you MPAA and Par-Amount to Nothing! Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

R2 2-Disc CE of Amityville 3 has a commentary and in the case a nice booklet and collectible lobby cards. And, best of all, the 3-D version of the movie! Sure it's the red/blue 3-D, but still 3-D nonetheless.

The UK Shaun of the Dead has a couple more commentaries. The Phantasm Sphere is an obvious one,though I think that would have come here if it weren't for rights issues with part 2.
