It's simple. You like an album released this year that you think isn't getting much attention, pimp it out in here. That's all.

Au Revoir Simone - The Bird Has Flown

I made a thread about this sometime back, but it was pretty much ignored. A really great dream pop album with so much keyboard it'll suffocate you. Try and find this (or ask and I might be able to give :)).

Marissa Nadler - Songs III: Bird on the Water

I wasn't going to put this on here because I was expecting lots of praise when it came out, but now that it's only available in North America via import I'm gonna put it in here. I can pretty much hear this girl sing anything and I won't hate it. The girl covered a Xiu Xiu song and she made it sound great. Plus she's done a feat in not screwing up a Leonard Cohen cover. I got some mp3s here of her.

Dan Deacon - Spiderman of the Rings

Absolute insanity. Dan Deacon loves to just use as many moogs/synths or other electronics to make the weirdest shit ever. I heard a description which I think I'll use from now on, which summed it up as 'putting retards in a room full of broken moogs.' It actually works really well though, mainly because the record gives off a huge upbeat and fun feeling. He varies though, some of the tracks start out minimal before evolving into a noise assault while others will be full on insane. Here's a video of a live performance he did on a morning news show (who else thinks the producer didn't realize who they were booking?)

I'll look into these. Most of the stuff you recommend I usually dig.

Looked up all some of the bands listed here and these are my musings...

Au Revoir Simone.
This was probably my favorite of the bunch. Sad Song is right up my alley. The overuse of keyboards really works with vocals like theirs and fits the whole dream pop formula. I think I'll pick this up when it comes out next week.

Marissa Nadler.
She has a beautiful voice but the two tracks you put up really didn't click with me.

Dan Deacon.
This guy was rad. I found a couple of other tracks besides the video and I liked what I heard. I don't think i could listen to it over and over but they were good first time listens. Apparently the art show he is participating in is coming through San Diego in a few weeks but a venue still hasn't been picked. i'm going to try and check it out for fun

Eluvium.
Wow. Let me rephrase that. Wow to the power of 2. I love this stuff. Man yet another album I need to get. Absolutley mesmerizing. Thanks Notch!

Do make say think:
The songs I heard off of here were decent. It didn't really draw me in enough to pick up the album though.

Man, You guys are on point this year on new music. I think I'm slipping in my old age. It's hard to make it to the record store with my walker.

This is from the only album that I've really gotten into this year so far. Most others have left me wanting.

bowiee if you like Eluvium then I recommend checking out Stars of The Lid if you haven't already. They have a new 2 disc album out called 'And Their Refinement of the Decline.' If you haven't heard 'Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid' try it, pretty much any ambient fan goes nuts over it.

Thanks someguy, I was eyeing their work since I've been going on a Ambient musical trek the last few weeks. I definetly have to stop procrastinating and pick them up. Ack, It's not out for awhile. That's bogus.
