Spears 'Believes She Has Postpartum Depression'

By WENN | Wednesday, March 07, 2007

HOLLYWOOD - Troubled pop star Britney Spears reportedly believes she doesn't need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse because she is suffering from postpartum depression.

The “Toxic” singer has been in rehab in Malibu, California, for two weeks and is furious with friends and family for making her seek counseling.

A source tells Us Weekly magazine, "She's convinced she's suffering from postpartum depression and does not think she has an alcohol or drug problem.

"She's angry at her family and her manager for pressuring her to enter the program. She feels she was ambushed."

Spears checked in to Promises Residential Treatment Center on Feb. 21, after several months of hard partying.

A source says doctors are still concerned about her condition, saying, "They're in shock at what bad shape she's in."

The 25-year-old has reportedly not been on her best behavior at the facility.

A source adds, "(She) has been getting in tons of trouble. (She's) been reprimanded for making cell phone calls, has left the facility to shop, and now she wants to leave rehab for good."

She probably went to WebMD for her diagnosis.

It's a conveniently "nice" sounding diagnosis that was brought up by Brooke Shields who has offered to help her.

From her reported behavior, it does not sound like she is depressed- sounds like she is acting out from a lifetime of getting everything you want any time you want any way you want. Just look at Michael Jackson for the effects of this kind of lifestyle.

Anyway, sounds like her career is probably over. She certainly isn't recording or touring these days and its not cause she is too busy being a mother. I kind of don't get why every one is so sympathetic with her behavior. She was acting out and she did not want to go to rehab and now she does not want to be there. Sympathy is not a good choice of reaction to someone like this- it just enables them to go down more.

Post Partum?? Maybe, but that long trail of cocaine and ecstasy use says otherwise...:D

You know what I dont understand, every news story of hers begins with the same phrase "The “Toxic” singer", like its the only fucking song shes ever done. Its so hard for these girls to seek help for real issues like drugs and alcohol abuse, why the fuck would you talk about having more kids if suffering from post partum.

Heres what I think, The AP has done something real smart with Paris Hilton and they have not ran a story on her in about 4 weeks now, I think they should really start doing this with the new "Brat" pack, Britney, Lindsey, Paris, That greasy spoon Brandon Davis and just not talk about them. It makes more of an interesting story when you hear of them disapearing and appearing on E!s BLVD of Broken Dreams in about 10 years.

Did Brooke Shields ever act like this when she had post partum?

I think it's because most of those who even don't like Britney say it's her most tolerable song from what I understand.

I don't like it,though. I even think it's bad even by her standards.
