I just searched it on dvdaficionado and it's actually the UK boxset. It was the one that came up the most on google images' 1st page of results so I put that one up.
I have yet to get it but it's definitely already on the DVD wish list on my profile page. ;)

The original Star Wars trilogy is the best.
Though if I could count Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, and Empire Strikes Back as a trilogy - I'd go with that.

A tie between The Godfathe trilogy and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Although I also love the Indiana Jones trilogy although I guess that's technically not a trilogy anymore.

I'm not going to count Star Wars, since it's unfair to group them as two separate trilogies. They're SIX movies, which is not a trilogy, so why not take other series and just pick three of them and call that a trilogy? Not fair. I know some people refuse to accept Ep. 1-3 as part of the Star Wars saga, but that's just how it is.
1. The Man With No Name
2. The Godfather
3. Lord of the Rings
4. Indiana Jones
5. Three Colors
6. Back to the Future
7. Terminator
8. Evil Dead
A lot of trilogies are bogged down by one entry that doesn't match up to the other two. Even the ones that I picked for my list could have that said about them. For The Man With No Name Trilogy, A Fistful of Dollars is good, but not nearly as good as the latter two entries in the trilogy. Three Colors is probably the trilogy in which all three entries are closest in terms of quality, but overall, I like the 4 I placed above it more.
I haven't even seen the Apu trilogy, so a spot could be reserved for that whenever I eventually get around to it. Oh, and also the Samurai trilogy.

I'm not counting The Lord of the Rings as a trilogy because it simply isn't a trilogy. It's one huge, nine hours-plus film. The same goes for Tolkien's novels - it's one big book.

Well to answer your question.. LOTR is better then Star Wars for a lot of reasons..i was just like you at one point..i hated LOTR when it was out...i never watched it but i thought they looked stupid...then i watched them and never looked back...star wars is still my second favorite tirlogy but its so far back it isnt even worth taling about....seriously..waste of time to talk about. LOTR are not films that are easy to pick up perfectly the first time..if u rewatch them and give them the chance..you probably would like them... just try ot not go into it with the bitter feeling u have for thme already.
1. Star Wars Original Trilogy. (And LOTR isn't even close.)
2. Indiana Jones
3. Back To The Future
4. LOTR
5. Naked Gun

I gotta go with Lord of the Rings trilogy hands down...Im also sure it will be a very long time before anything touches it....although The Matrix Trilogy is a distant but strong second. The Matrix trilogy lost some strength towards the end...the battle for Zion was insane but the matrix scene in Revolutions were weak...the last Smith battle although on a grander scale couldn't touch the one in Reloaded which I still call the best fight scene of all time. The ending could have been stronger. If it wasn't lacking there it might have been close if not on top.

I would have to go with Stan Brakhage's Pittburg Trilogy as weird as that may sound. The Act of Seeing With Ones Own Eyes is probably one of the most inspirational (emotionally, spiritually, aesthetically, philisophically, and affectively) I have ever laid eyes on. All of the films are hard to watch, but oddly, they are rewarding in a way I have known no other film to be.

If I can just imagine that Alien Resurrection doesn't exist, I'd say the Alien Trilogy is my favourite, or at least among my favourites. 3 great films from 3 great different directors. I think that's partly what I love about it so much...some trilogies are pretty much the same in tone and have the same style, like Speilberg's Indiana Jones Trilogy or Zemekis' BTTF trilogy, Jackson's LOTR trilogy, etc. etc. But the Alien films are each unique and display the talents of different gifted directors like Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and David Fincher (which is not to say Jean-Pierre Jeunet isn't gifted, it's just that Joss Whedon's script ruined the movie too horribly). Also, they were each so far apart: one from the 70's, one from the 80's and one from the 90's. And they each sort of encapsulate the style of popular filmmaking from each era. A wonderful trilogy.
