Have any of you heard anything on this? From what I am understanding, Romero got sick of the restraints that Universal put on him and has decided to move on and do another Zombie flick but entirely independant. I know that they start shooting this October and it's supposed to be about a bunch of college students that are filming a documentary and stumble onto a Zombie uprising. Well, I guess that Romero for this film is going to touch on the human factor these days that everything has to be on tape and nothing is private anymore. Will have a more full meaning behind it that LOTD did. It will be interresting to see if this has a bigger impact with the series than LOTD did as this will be the first Independant Zombie flick Romero has done in over 20 years. I am sure it is going to be alot more bloody and gory that LOTD was, but will the story be any good? Thoughts Schmoes?

I have heard of this and I am looking forward to it. I actually thought Land of the Dead was pretty damn good. From what I understand Diary is supposed to take place at the same time the original NOTLD takes place. When the zombie outbreak first occurs. We still got quite a wait until it is released though and anything can happen. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I am hearing a 2008 release. Of course, that don't mean dick these days, but who knows? I am looking more forward to this than the remake of Hellraiser.:(

I though it was called Dairy of the Dead (http://joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=107067&highlight=of+the+dead) (I love sarcasm, Sorry zuniman for bring that one back up). Again, If Romero makes it, I'll watch it.

Damn shitty about Hellraiser as well.

Well Romero has just started a blog for the film. Here is what he wrote on his Myspace page:

Hi, guys,

Lemme tell ya about Diary of the Dead. I love it. It's the first film since my original Night of the Living Dead that I can say is completely my own.

I've been trying to work under-the-radar, with no hype or press, but lately I've started hearing all kinds of shit about "What's goin' on with Romero?" "What's with his new film?"

Gimme a break over here! I'm up in Toronto workin' my ass off, making Diary the best it can be. Truth is, I'm having a blast. I've gone home to the kind of filmmaking that I used to do, back in the day.

Diary is a hundred percent independent, made with my partner, Peter Grunwald, and our new friends at Artfire. I haven't had this much freedom since 1968. The cast, of what film critics will probably call "unknowns" (they won't be for long) is, in my opinion, fuckin' great.

This one comes from my heart. It's not a sequel or a remake. It's a whole new beginning for the dead.

Thanks to all of you who are out there waiting and wondering. You guys, the fans, have always kept me going. Now Diary's keeping me going, night, dawn, and day.

I love this movie. I hope you will, too. I'll be back here from time to time to keep you posted. Stay tuned.

Stay scared.

George A. Romero

I'm hoping he is able to deliver another kickass movie. I'm glad he is having a great time and getting to make the movie he wants to. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

i've never been disappointed with Romero's films and i doubt this'll be any different, i love his style of film making and this sounds like it'll be just as fun

Could be awesome i like all of the Dead movies and Romero going back to his roots could be cool, maybe it'll have the same vibe, the original had.

Sounds promising.

Then again, I had the same hopes for Land of the Dead and was terribly let down by that piece of crap.

The Diary of the Dead sequel which George was supposedly already starting work on seems to have taken a nose dive. Here's what Romero had to say today:

"I'm not sure where that came from," Romero said when IGN put the question to him. "I wouldn't mind continuing the discussion, but nothing is decided yet. Euphoria seems to have set in even though the film has only screened about six times."

He continues, "The only way I can see it being worthwhile is if we use the same characters, which would be the first time I have done that. I don't have an idea yet, but if the idea and the money can meet somewhere in the middle, it's possible."

Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Okay, so I watched the Diary of the Dead trailer a couple of days ago and I have to say it looked pretty damn decent. I'm still looking forward to it BUT the release date has been rumored to be pushed back from February to MAY. FUCK ME! It seems like it's been taking forever as it is. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Terrible movie. Couldn't even finish it.

How can you call it a terrible movie if you didn't even finish it? One of the craziest things about the film happens about twenty minutes from the end. I personally thought it was a deacent fim and it was better than Land Of The Dead was. The biggest complaints I hear about this thing is the lack of Zombies and Gore. Okay, well if it's the beginning of the outbreak, of course there aren't millions of Zombies running around. Yeah, the film wasn't as gory as Dawn and Day, but it had some nastiness going on. The Defibulator to the Zombies head was nasty!
