Article (http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/04/11/obamas_silence_on_imus_alarms_some_blacks/)

I guess it is not enough to make a big deal about what Imus said but now people are going to be judged about how they react to this issue and companies will be attacked by how they react too.

This is all about brain washing. People will learn they better respond a certain way or they will be ostracized. This kind of thing shuts down real dialogue. It gets to be a lesson in toeing the line or else. What does Obama have to do with all this crap anyway. Can't he focus on other things without being drawn into this?

Man, my program director brought up Imus the other day. Thanks for making paranoid about how I responded. :)

I've still not looked into what he said, but regardless, I don't think his time slot doesn't have room for controversy. It's like Howard Cossell x10.

For me this issue is driven by two things:

1. Imus has a long history of racist and sexist remarks.
2. These were college athletes, just regular kids who happened to make it onto the national stage. They shouldve have to be subjected to ridicule and humiliation whether its racially motivated or not.

What it all comes down to is this: if you're not that funny, then don't say anything racist. Michael Richards, a great TV comedy actor, unfortunately wasn't all that great of a comedian. He couldn't take the fact that the crowd didn't like him, so he went on a racist tirade. Imus, who's show is on MSNBC for Chrissakes, tries to make a crack that miserably fails and now people want him fired.

Bringing Obama into this is really stupid as well. He shouldn't have to lose votes because of something stupid this guy said. Sharpton and Jackson are great examples of why it's so hard for a black man to get elected in this country. People like this turn against their own kind for really asinine reasons. Plus, I'm sure Clinton has those two in her pockets. I have a lot of black friends, all of whom vote Democrat, and they absolutely loathe Sharpton and Jackson. I can't say I blame them.

I think it was the democratic party a long time ago that was hounding Michael Jordan to get more "involved" in politics because of his star power. He replied with something along the lines of "Republicans buy Nikes, too."

Aren't you the same person who wanted Henry Rollins dead for making 'demeaning' jokes about Ann Coulter?

I just read what this guy said. Obviously what Imus didn't realize is that there's a little gnappy-headed jigaboo in each and every one of us. Imus just be an old straw head.
