Yeah so this one is unraveling in America starting with NYC and LA. Anyone thereabouts planning to see it? I'm sure it's already made its rounds through Scotland and Europe. It debuted at Cannes and won what was essentially the third place prize and it's director, Andrea Arnold, won an Oscar recently (prominently featured in the trailer of course).

I haven't been watching too much movies recently but I'd storm out the front door for this one --- love the trailer too, all sound design and such. It invokes Lars von Trier and Michael Haneke and you can definitely see the Haneke but there is nothing apparent in there of a "road to redemption reminscent of 'BTW'".

Here's the trailer (http://www.substance001.net/red_road_trailer/red_road_trailer_850k.mov).

And the NY Times review (http://movies2.nytimes.com/2007/04/13/movies/13road.html?ref=movies).

I like the look of this film. I'd love to see it, but I'm not sure if there's any word on a UK release date. Any ideas?

^^^ It's already on DVD in the UK.

Slow, but a good film. Really FUCKED UP though, and you wouldn't think so at first. But the story ventures into NC-17 territory with disturbing results. Yet with a hopeful ending that makes up for whatever discomfort the movie created.

7/10

Modman, could you move this to the Upcoming Thread? It belongs there and might register better there.

Oh, sorry. Thanks for letting me know, I would've been waiting for it to come out otherwise.

I'll give it a rent soon as it's available in my area. Shops around here are a bit slow DVD-wise.
