Hey everybody,
This is absolutely spectacular news to me and I'm so goddamn excited now. The gents over at Ain't It Cool News have released the first pair of official reviews for "Spider-Man 3". The best part about this though is that each one states that this movie is the best film of the trilogy and one quoted saying..."Spider-man 3" must be the best visual action blockbuster ever and outdo all its predecessors." That is friggin' amazing! :D
If you want to read the reviews, you can head to the link below. WARNING! MAJOR SPOILERS ARE PRESENT IN THESE REVIEWS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I'm so excited now and it's very close to release. From what I've read, this could be the greatest superhero film to date. I heard it has so many fights in it that it's almost mind-blowing. According to the Famous Players theatres here in Canada, the movie will be 139 minutes which is huge!
What do you all think?

Great news, but not surprising. Sam Raimi hasn't let us down yet and I don't think he's about to start. I just hope S3 comes out on top of the blockbuster wars this summer. Pirates 3, Shrek 3 and Transformers will certainly give it a run for it's money. Bring on May 4th already!!

139 minutes is a lot better than fucking 160. Thank god that got trimmed or was a rumor.

I wouldn't put too much trust in what the theaters say. Every theater around me still has Grindhouse listed as two hours.

I hope Spider-Man 3 doesn't become another X-Men:The Last Stand.

Heard the running time is 156 minutes...

Hardly surprising but definitely significant. I mean, sure, I hated the second which got rave reviews, but who knows, these might actually agree with me.
And I do want to see Venom tear someone's head off.

I'll be honest; i'll probably have a geeky freakout while watching this movie. A borderline religious experience.

I have to see this....Opening night will almost certainly be an impossibility though, as the threatres here will be packed to the nuts...definitely in the first week though. I predict 150 mil in the first 7 days.

As if there were any doubt...
Standings:
Spider-Man - 7/10
Spider-Man 2 - 9.5/10
Spider-Man 3 - 10/10?

Meh. It's AICN. I want to read legit reviews.
Not that it will effect me in anyway. I do have some concerns with the movie's length and the fact that it sounds like it might be overplotted. But those concerns aside, I'm still really excited and bad reviews wouldn't be able to put a damper on that.

Oops. I didn't see that the running length is now 139 minutes. That relieves me quite a bit. 139 doesn't seem so bad. It doesn't sound so bloated like the 156 minute length did.
Although the overplotted thing still has me concerned but I have no doubt that this will kick serious ass!

I get to see this next Thursday - April 26 thanks to a friend at SONY!
According to her, the run time is: 139 minutes, 4 seconds.

I'd still rather it be longer. With as many sub-plots as it seems to have, I would hate to have them feel rushed.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: preliminary reviews are misleading to me and seem to be more for marketing purposes than anything else. I'm going to see it regardless, so reviews don't matter to me anyway.

I dont see how it can. Unlike X-men, this has the same creative team that started it.

X3 may not have been as good as X2 but it was still damn fun.
If Spider-Man 3 is truly better then S2, it's without a doubt the greatest comic adaptation of all-time. I can't wait to see it.
It appears the only question now is whether Spider-Man 3 has set the bar high enough so that FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk or The Dark Knight can't take the title. Damn, it's a great time to be a comic fan.

Dark Knight or Iron Man, maybe. I dont think well have to worry about FF2 taking it.:p

I saw Spider-Man 3 on Thursday. I think my review is going up on the site Monday, so stay tuned.
But just to prepare you...
Spider-Man - 7 out of 10
Spider-Man 2 - 9 out of 10
Spider-Man 3 - 8 out of 10
It's a great movie, but it's also got A LOT of problems.

Agreed. I think FF is the worst Marvel movie made so far and I dont see why the sequel will be any different. Keep in mind I havent seen Ghost Rider and probably never will.

I would be excited for this , if the lame dialogue , monotone acting , cheesy insights from his grandmother , and the even more cartoonish visuals weren't present .

I'm waiting for the inevitable moment here when there will be like 10 great reviews and one negative, which will prompt someone to actually, say, "hmm, this concerns me now" ;)

Some things in the review, like the raindrops bit, didn't really bother me in the second film, so if this film has something equal to that, I don't think it'll bother me unless Tobey makes it look as cheesy as you described it (pelvic thrusting at women?)
My only concern is all the sub-plots. I really think the three villain angle was not the way to go for a "final" movie. Hopefully the plots don't go back and forth too much to where it's overwhelming and takes you out of the film.

I don't share your enthusiasm for Spider-Man 2. It was a decent and entertaining popcorn flick but I didn't think it was anything great.
That said, I've always thought the movie definitely seemed overplotted and had a little too much going on. Sandman, Harry and Venom, it all seems enough for three more movies and yet they are trying to ram it into one. Even at 140 minutes, it's bound to feel rushed. And isn't there some kind of love triangle between Peter/Mary Jane and Bryce Dallas Howard's character?
Nevertheless, I'm sure it will be enjoyable.

Great review Quigles!
Speaking as someone who thought the first Spider-man movie was only average, part 2 is probably my favorite comic book movie of all time right now.
I really dont think this will surpass it( too many characters), but it looks to be one hell of a ride.
At least (..and unlike x3) this has a runnning time capable of handling the characters.

No, trust me, the raindrops bit has NOTHING on these scenes. JoBlo actually asked me to take out a couple of lines from my review because he didn't want me to get into too much detail regarding what comes after the "pelvic thrusting" scene, but I do have that part of my review available to read...
QuigSpot.com
It's the third to fourth paragraph down.
But yeah, in all honestly, it's a pretty awful couple of scenes. Totally took me out of the film, if only for a brief period.

The love-triangle comes into play maybe twice, and even then it barely feels like a part of the story. In the part of my review which JoBlo made me cut out (find the link to the full review above), I mention that Gwen Stacy is "a hot but disappointingly extraneous character." She doesn't really bring a lot to the film.

As long as you don't go in expecting another SPIDER-MAN 2, you'll probably have a blast like I did.
I'll admit the movie has a lot of problems (many of which I ranted about in my review), but it's also an awesome movie-going experience. I keep hearing my reviewing buddies bash the movie, and I really hope audiences don't do the same.

Yes, at the very least, everybody who sees this movie should be grateful it's not another X3.
And I partially agree about the first film. At the time I saw it, I loved it. I even went to see it in theaters a total of four times. But now it already feels so dated. The CGI sucks, the action is cheesy, and the villain is lame. It's still a solid origin story (and also a good foundation to build off of - after all, SPIDER-MAN 2 was amazing), but that's it.
SPIDER-MAN 3 doesn't surpass the second film, but it's still an awesome time at the movies.

Does anyone say Go Spidey go in this one ? Or does anyone sing the spiderman song from the cartoon .
That bad Peter Parker / Spiderman sounds like evil Superman from Supes 3 i think .
