I gotta admit, when news came about for this I really didn't care too much. Yeah, the series is cool, and even though the sequels left something to be desired they were still solid...
But after seeing this (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/livefreeordiehard/trailerg/) trailer I GOTTA see it when it comes out.
Some cliche plot devices are evident, but damn if this doesn't look like the perfect popcorn flick.

I'll admit, this looks so balls-out over-the-top that it may just have some serious entertainment value. My curiosity has definitely been increased from total apathy after viewing this film's trailer.

Agreed, it looks like fun. A lot of fun.

Hmmm, it was JUST posted on apple's trailer page, so I figured it would be new to a lot of people.
But hot damn if it doesn't look badass...

I'm kinda mad that they turned to CG. One of the best parts about the series was that it was pretty much stunts and occasional green screen.

true, true. but you must admit, it still will have less than the other summer blockbusters. Spiderman and pirates just look like cartoons.

Yep, this was posted a few weeks ago when it appeared on Yahoo, but it's still a sweet trailer.
Love the Kevin Smith cameo at the end.

They're showing all the money shots in these trailers. Not good. I still like to be surprised when seeing this movie.

Well no one has seen the finished movie, so we won't know if we've been shown all of the money shots until then, correct?
I think there will be plenty more. Hopefully.

I was planning to see this anyway. Now I'll be there on the opening night.

I must be the only one who thinks this movie looks kinda stupid. I'm a Die Hard fan from way back, but it really doesn't do anything to make me wanna go and see it right away.

The trailer kick all kinds of ass. But no Bruce Willis movie can ever top Fifth Element

No, I'm with you... Ridiculous and over the top (and not in classic Die Hard way) and Justin Long make me weary.

sounds to me like they're trying to reach specific audiences.
Justin Long - to reach the younger crowd that doesn't know the Die Hard series
Kevin Smith - He gives all us movie geeks something to talk about and keep us interested.
Not that there's anything wrong with it. Most movies use these tactics, it's just I didn't think Die Hard needed to use it.

This may be the boldest statement I've ever read on these boards. Fuck gay ass Spider-Man and Pirates? Are you out of your fucking mind!

Well, I wouldn't call Spider-Man gay ass, however I do agree that this movie looks WAY cooler than Spideer-Man 3!
And it looks WAY better than Pirates 3.

The movie looks cool, but I think it wouldn't have stand a chance against Transfomers if it were released on the same date.

many people would say I am but I really just dont give a damn about those movies.the only reason I saw spiderman 3 was cause I'm a projectionist and I built it (had to check for missplices), and I was right. the fights are stupid looking, just like I was watching a cartoon. It was also way too long. I stand by my remarks even though I understand I'm the miniorty.

Brace yourselves, folks...it looks like 20th Century Fox is going to water down the movie by cutting it so that it'll get a PG-13!

John McClane saying, "Yippee-kay-yay, mother falcon"? Is that what they're proposing? I hate the president of 20th Century Fox, Tom Rothman, whose idea this no doubt is. His stupid ass is the reason that X-Men: The Last Stand (he hates X-Men) and Alien Vs. Predator exist. He's a know-nothing jackass and the day he is no longer employed there, I will have a big party.
I sincerely hope that this truncating of Live Free Or Die Hard doesn't happen

I don't trust Ain't It Cool as far as I can throw Harry Knowles fat ass. There's no way with out a lot of digital clean-up with what we've seen of McClane all beaten up and bleeding that this would get a PG-13.

PG-13 actually allows for one "fuck", so the famous line will stay.
But I would definitely prefer an R-rated Die Hard. Wiseman and Willis both want it to be R, and EVERYONE who is part of the established fanbase is over 18 anyway. This film has much greater appeal to adults than teens. So the PG-13 rating doesn't really make that much sense.
And 300 was an R-rated action movie, and look how that did at the B.O.

It also depends on the context. I don't think I've seen a PG-13 film to this day have "motherfucker" in it. Especially with the rest of the film supposedly being so "intense".

I believe the rule is that you are allowed one "fuck" in a PG-13 as long as it's not sexual in nature. And I don't think "motherfucker" is allowed in PG-13 movies.
If Wiseman and Willis really care and want the R, they should fight for it. Together they would have some pull, and it can't hurt to try.

I'm sure if Willis alone wanted the R, he could get it. I mean, Die Hard pretty much IS Bruce Willis. He just needs to talk to the right people. I'm willing to bet money that if it's turned into PG-13 with the way it's already been shot, it'll be an almost incomprehensible mess in the action scenes.

I guess it's a question of how much Willis really cares. He got paid, and when all is said and done maybe the rating doesn't matter to him all that much.

Yeah. I just hope he does use his pull. He also has to think about the fans and the residuals that may not be there later if the fanbase ignores.

WOW! I'm true Die Hard fan that may just have sit this lastest installment out. Why? You can't use the excuse "make it PG13 so it's more accessible for the movie going audience," and here is why.
1. It's the 4th film in a franchise. It already has a built in audience. Everyone knows Die Hard.
2. The reason why they made Die Hard 2 was because the first one was good and made money. The reason why the made the 3rd on was because the first 2 were good and made money. It's my bet that's the reason why they made the 4th film.
3. The first 3 were rated R (didn't seem to hurt those films).
4. Why screw up a something that already has proven its self?
4. It's fucking DIE HARD!
This could hurt the film more than help it. Here's the message I got. The movie did not turn out has expected (not so good). Let's cut to a PG13 so we can atleast gurantee a success.
And what's with Willis. He's always been reluctant about doing another until he eventually gives in. This is his baby. Shame!
