Day of the Dead remake

While I know most of you are smart enough already, for those who don't yet know, STEER CLEAR OF THE DAY OF THE DEAD REMAKE!

I read the script about a year ago and let me tell you, it was one of the worst horror scripts I've ever read.

Rather than set it in the missile silo, the film is about a small town taken over by "The Infected" (as they're referred to in the script). The army blocks the town off and some really boring mayhem follows. The missile silo makes an appearance in the opening as a makeout spot for the town teens, and the third act takes place in it, where the survivors are faced with a Super Zombie (no fuckin joke).

Bub is in the film... but his name has been changed to Bud, a young fresh soldier who has the hots for Sarah (a soldier this time), who is bit, zombifies, and they keep cuffed in the back seat of the truck. Because he had the hots for Sarah, he is a tame zombie.....fucking LAME!

Just trust me my good friends, as if the cast (Nick Cannon!?) wasn't enough to shoe you away, let this be a warning. If you want, e-mail me and I'll send you the script to see for yourself.

The trailer I watched for this one was a pretty awkward assembling of footage. It didn't look exciting, or scary, and the humor just fell flat. At first I didn't even think it was real. I thought it was a fan made trailer but I was wrong. I don't particularly enjoy judging movies before I see them but the preview and the cast aren't exactly giving me much to keep my hopes up for. I will watch it... I just don't know that I would actually PAY to see it. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I have 0 interest in this remake. I loved the OG Day of the Dead and from what I've heard and read, this is going to be a piece of shit.

Someone told me that one of the characters in the film turn into a zombie, but he's a vegan...so guess what? He won't eat brains! :rolleyes:

Yeah I read that on the cast or filmmakers blog and was like what the fuck? Sounds like it was supposed to be a cool twist but 1) it WASN'T and 2)they ruin it by telling you before the movie even comes out anyways. What a bunch of bullfuck! Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I was excited for it at first now it looks like a straight to dvd crapper. Kind of like "return of the living dead: rave to the grave"

How come George Romero could make such great zombie movies with such a low budget and no one else can? Talent?

I attended a test screening for the Day of the Dead remake at MGM studios about two weeks ago, and (surprise, surprise) it was just awful. Really bad. I mean, Nick Cannon is it it, for chrissakes. I can't remember one redeeming quality... it doesn't help that it features one of the most annoying female characters in any film, ever. Steve Miner has made two decent movies (House, Warlock). The Day of the Dead remake doesn't really add a gem to his less than stellar resume. If I'm not mistaken, the whole test audience I saw it with thought it sucked as well. Don't be surprised if it gets shelved.

Hmmm... why am I not surprised. Hopefully they will have the good sense to send this straight to video. However coming off the heels of the Dawn of the Dead remake they will probably be able to trick a lot of people into thinking this is a good movie as well. I might see it but only if I'm sneaking in. Christa Campbell has announced that the Day remake will be going theatrical in February of 2008. I fell in love with her in 2001 Maniacs and wish she could have found better work to star in. Oh well. I haven't seen Contagium but I'd be willing to bet that the remake is far worse - if only because it cost millions of dollars, while Contagium was a low-budget tribute/fanboy movie. And Nick Cannon isn't in Contagium.

Speaking of Rhames......he must love the zomies flicks....Dawn '04 was great though.

I've seen both - Contagium hurts your head - it blows, dull,dull,dull.
DOTD remake is too fraking silly, but is easier to watch.
My opinion would be to avoid at all cost - don't rent, don't borrow your friends DVD, don't watch em on tv.........

Yeah I've seen both now as well and though I agree that the Day remake is easier to watch than the totally useless Contagium that's not really saying much. Now that the curiosity is out of the way I'll be avoiding both films. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Nowhere near as awesome as the excellent Night and Dawn remakes but still an entertaining piece of mindless horror. Dumber than a bag of rocks but had enough gory zombie action and humor to keep me smiling throughout.

I'd rather watch this than Diary of the Dead.

Way better than Contagium...man did that movie blow. This one at least had some ok acting and effects.

I want that 1hr and 1/2 back. The only redeeming feature in the film was that Baron Harkonnen was in it. :) Other than that it made Zombie Strippers look like an academy award winner. Also folks steer clear from Day of the Dead 2. That makes this one look good.

This sucks balls; I really wanted this flick to be good, despite Snyder not being on board for this one, but I guess they really phoned it in in a bad way. I will still probably check it out, but this is bad news.

Hey guys, I reviewed it, and yeah, it wasn't exactly the greatest film to watch (at least while sober). It's miles above Contagium, though.

There was no need for this remake, especially after watching the finished product. It did keep me mildly entertained, but it wasn't good by any means. If you catch it on late at night, give it a watch but its not worth searching for.
