I can't believe how blown out of proportion this issue has become. I can't believe Ottawa is sticking it's nose where it shouldn't belong. Though once again the Bloc and Duceppe blew things out of proportion and complained that what Doan said was "against Quebec". Wake up Duceppe! Your party is against Canada!!!

Fucking French Nationalists....

This whole thing is stupid. What the hell does Gilles care about the captain of a national team of something he believes is another country?

On top of that, since Doan was acquited of the allegations, TWO YEARS AGO, this is one of the worst cases of political posturing I have ever seen.

They need to grow the fuck up.

The NDP is just as much to blame as they were the ones who originally started it. But the Bloc took the ball and ran with it.

Seriously, we've got Afghanistan, environment/Kyoto, rising gas prices, sinking health care, and this is what the government deems important? I want the money of my taxes for the MPs day's salary back.

And just to make it even worse, the politicians don't even see that Hockey Canada basically followed past procedure with picking a captain by selecting the guy who doesn't turn down the invitation when extended and has gone the most times. That's how Ryan Smyth became "Captain Canada", but he didn't go this year due to the Isles being in the playoffs and having some injuries that had to be treated after the Isles were eliminated.

Another couple of things I find really funny about this:

1. Why does the Bloc care so much about who is Canada's hockey team Captain? They want to leave, so what does Canada's reputation matter to them?

2. Jack Layton constantly saying "we (the NDP) are here to get some positive results delivered on the issues that matter most to Canadians." I'm sure who is the captain of a hockey team is at the top of the importance list to most Canadians.

3. All of the opposition parties are constantly criticizing the Conservative government and accusing them of "ruining Canada's reputation on the world stage" with allegations of prisoner abuse in Afghanistan and the whole environment/Kyoto deal.

I'm sure if this made news in other countries, we'd be a complete laughing stock all around the world right now over what our parliamentarians decide what is important to discuss.

BTW, The Conservatives are just as guilty for voting for the Bloc motion. However, the whole committee thing was on CPAC on Wednesday and the Liberal and Conservative members could have cared less and were just asking questions about Hockey Canada that were completely unrelated to Doan. The NDP and Bloc were the ones pushing the issue. I'm pretty sure though that the Conservatives and the Liberals just voted for the Bloc motion so they wouldn't appear Anti-french and give other parties ammunition to work with.
