Anyone else see this groovy 70's vampire flick? I just picked it up on DVD. It was a blind buy. Its quite hard too find and it has a cool cover so I figured why not try it out. Mine doesnt have the cover shown below. My copy has a photo a vampire girl with white face make-up on. Its the unrated version. The rated version has a cheesy dawn cover. Sorta like the one below minus the exposed breast.
It starts like most old vampire films. An American inherits a castle in Europe, finds that the former residents are still crawling around the castle as vampires, and has a hard time believing in what they are seeing. The Vampire Happening plays more for laughs than chills though. There is hardly any blood in it either. It does however have a fairly good amount of topless vampire Euro-chicks. Which helps keep the slow pace moving. The movie doesnt really get rolling till the end. Where are heros end up at a vampire party, complete with a 70's rock band.
I wouldn't say its a must see. It would be good in a marathon with The Fearless Vampire Killers, Dracula A.D. 1972, Vampyres, or Vampyros Lesbos.
