Following 73 years of hate-filled sermons and presidential advice, the pro-segregation, pro-apartheid, pro-AIDS overly litigious preacher who co-founded the "Moral Majority" died today of cardiac arrest.

Falwell, along with Pat Robertson, had a profound effect on late 20th century politics. His moral majority, mega churches, and intense efforts to insert religious fundamentalism into U.S. government resulted in, among other things, the Christian Right and the Bush White House.

I'm curious to see if the media will canonize the bastard like they did with Reagan or present a fair portrait of a man who preached hate above all else and somehow found himself in the oval office on way too many occasions.

Actually, I believe they ended up becoming friends. I've heard them both say it numerous times.

That's more like it........may thee be able to go on hate-laced rants about gays, non-evangelicals, the media, and Bill Clinton in Haven.

Wow.

I read the first few paragraphs, and then filled in the rest with "blah blah blah blah".

So liberals are the only Christians that despised this guy? Hah! I don't get it. He was a two-faced, male chauvinistic bigot. Anyone who claims to be a devout follower of the Word of God should act and present themselves at all times with love and devotion to all races and beliefs. Just because someone SAYS they are Christian doesn't mean they are telling the truth. He was as Christian as those Televangelists in multi-million dollar homes, skimming fat percentages from donations to the church and charity, asking for your money. He was as phony as a six dollar twenty three cent bill.

I don't care if he was liberal or conservative. Either way, he was a very bad man. One of the things that gets to me more than anything are devout religious followers who spread poison and/or fear in the name of their God or Gods.
