Lots of Dems love this guy so it may not be only the Repub vote that got split in this race. Could be interesting to see how this would impact the race. He must not be running in the primaries cause he is a social liberal.

If he runs he should do it with Ron Paul and create a new Republican party. A secularist Republican party would be something i would be all in favor of, and probably vote for. I think it would change the landscape of politics and really help this country.

There is a secularist "Republican" party- it is the Libertarians.

A billion dollars? Holy fuck! I can see myself voting for him over nearly all of 08s unimpressive candidates. Even if he doesn't win, but does get a nice chunk of votes (not a Nader-sized chunk) it would be a nice wakeup call the other two parties.

I meant a mainstream third party. Enough of this two party system, it sucks.

All he would need is 1% of the national vote to create an official third party that would be eligible for proper funding. Although just because I say "All he needs is" it shouldn't be taken as something that can easily be done as all teh previous 3rd party candidates can attest to.
But yeah, anything to scare the Dems and Repubs out of their comfortable predictability I'm all for
