Hannah Montana CANT SING! Shes a little tween girl who can hardly act and for god sakes that isnt even her real hair.
While I understand that its all part of her gimmick and she is supposed to be targeted to tween girls...........just no man, just no.
And wtf is Avril Lavigne? Does she still think shes punk after releasing "girlfriend"?
You want to listen to a girl who rocks? ANGELA FROM ARCH ENEMY!!!!! Now shes da shiz nit with a side of pimp juice.

This reminds me of when Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone called Britney Spears a "rock princess" when Oops I Did It Again came out. I wanted to murder that guy when I read that.
Turns out he's said even more ridiculous stuff in that magazine. He's a good reason that magazine is a joke now.
How the fuck did we go from Shirley Manson to Ashlee Simpson? Disney Channel does not equal rock music.

Hate to break it to you guys, but shitty, non-talented female (and male, for that matter) pop stars aimed towards kids below the age of 10 have always been around. Just because Janis Joplin and Grace Slick and others with actual talent are the only females people remember from the 60s, doesn't mean they're all that was there. Likewise for Shirley Manson and her era. Do you really have to be told that Shirley Manson and Hannah Montana don't share the same target audience?

The "female rockstars" arn't even rockstars, most of them are simply pop stars who like to think of themselves as Rock Stars, when in reality they're not.

The only difference between today's music and yesterday's music is that shittier music is being sold in larger quantities. Also, artists today don't die out as opposed to ten years ago when more and more bands were one hit wonders. I wish I could put it in perspective, but what it ultimately comes down to is that people these days are fucking idiots who will buy anything.

Oh, and I too would fuck Hannah Montana, despite how unbelieveably illegal it would be.

I think I know where he's coming from, but he may have identified the actual problem that's irking him.
What I think the problem is - The image of the tough-as-nails rock chick has become seasonably fashionable as of late. Whereas before, our pop princesses took after more traditional singers, today, it seems like everyone wants to be Pat Benatar when they are closer to female Pat Boones.
Personally, it doesn't get to me, because as mentioned there are some good rocking ladies out there - Peaches, The Fitness, Ravonettes, Le Tigre, The Sounds - and plenty more than I mentioned, and maybe not some I did - your call. There's always something to complain about in the mainstream, but it's not all bad.

Not mention that most of today's big indie rock acts have women in them. Arcade Fire, Decemberists, Broken Social Scene, and a ton of others. I don't even like the first two that much but I think it's admirable that the male members have been able to look past their sex.
Plus, sometimes chicks can give an already hard band an even harder attitude. Remember Kira from Black Flag? She could have easily kicked Henry Rollins' ass.
