Wow, this week is full of good news!
Jerry Falwell dies, and now this!

I'm glad he's quitting. He did a horrendous job on the Iraq war and he is very obviously crooked.

Paul Wolfowitz is a prick, no doubt, but I strongly suspect these calls for his resignation were politically motivated. Yeah, he got his girlfriend a cushy job, but it's not like that sort of thing never happens in the business world. But that's the excuse they're using, because a public discussion of the underlying issues (corruption, fraud, etc) would get too uncomfortable for the board of directors. I'm sure they'll try to replace him with another guy who'll follow the same general political agenda, though hopefully he won't be as crooked. I'm not sure who they're thinking of, though.

The World Bank as an organization is crooked. It doesn't matter which rich, white bureaucrat they put in, it will always be corrupt.
