I almost picked it up earlier, but I figured it'd be best to save my money just in case it wasn't all that great. The System Has Failed was a good album, but I didn't mind waiting until I found a used copy to buy it.

I've listened to most of it, but not thuroughly.

I find it funny that the song that stands out the most is a remake of a 14 year old track off Youthanasia (Their best album in my opinion).

It's easily better than The System has Failed, but I feel Megadeth has been on a steady decline for a while now. It's like Mustain forgot how to write songs with catchy rhythms or lyrics... not that they were ever pop rock or anything, but the last few albums have just felt generic.

There isn't anything about the first few songs that stands out. The only reason I even remember Gears of War is because it's based on the video game. There's a cool riff in there, but over all it's forgetable.

My copy is arriving in the mail. I like what I've heard, although I'd like to expurgate Cristina Scabbia from the "A Tout Le Monde" revamp.

Boring and pedantic neuter-metal. About what I've come to expect from Mustaine.

Cryptic Writings was the last album even approaching decent, with Youthanasia being the last that was actually good.

The whole awesomeness of Megadeth was a result of being his burning vengeance upon Metallica. Once the anger died down, the fire in the songs has been simmering down to nothing but cold ashes of the band's former glory.

A shame really, because when they had it they really had it.
