Magic's review of Nurse Betty

This is so so bad and so so stupid. Chris Rock was great. Morgan was ok. I hate Gregg so he sucked. As for Renee...........she was cute and we all loved her in Jerry Maguire, but she sucks in almost everything else, including this one. For someone with squinty eyes someone should tell her to stop wearing that black eye makeup. It was cute once. ONCE. Not anymore. I wish she would breakup with Jim so she can go away like the other chick. This movie never had a chance. No where near believable. It did have a few funny moments. Seeing this movie made me think of a top ten list. top ten people i like seeing bad things happen to on screen. greg is on that list.

I disagree. I think that Nurse Betty was good in the fact that it was unbelievable. I think that you have to have those kind of movies that make you realize that it was unbelievable. I couldn't help but crack up at the points when Renee would do things such as help a recently shot man, or recite lines to Greg Kinnear and his associates. It was funny. Yes, the ending was sort of a let down, I can't say anything more without ruining it, But the rest of the movie was great. Morgan Freeman was GREAT in this, as well as any movie he is in. DYK: This movie marks the first on-screen kiss for Morgan Freeman. I know, isn't it crazy? But, in the end, I felt that the movie, although it wasn't what I expected coming in, was a GREAT black comedy. The main reason that I liked this more than most black comedies(American Psycho for instance) was that this one wasn't taken seriously enough for it to be confused as a drama(or in Psycho's case a horror). This movie reminded me a lot of Pulp Fiction, in that it had many characters, and ***COULD BE TAKEN AS SPOILER*** sort of linked their journeys together at the end.***END WHAT COULD BE TAKEN AS SPOILER*** I think that the film was very well acted, and I think Morgan Freeman, although this isn't his best performance ever, should win an Oscar. I mean, COME ON ACADEMY! It's about time that you recognize this man as one of the greatest actors in Hollywood!

I liked Nurse Betty. Zellwegger was absolutely right for a role that could've sank into bad camp, but didn't. Kinnear is the all time champion of smarm, who better to play a soap opera actor? I love Chris Rock, but he was actually the weakest link. Freeman simply can't make a wrong move. Aaron Eckert ruled as Del. I wonder if that mullet helped him with that role? /ubb/wink.gif

Labute showed some range here. His first two movies are among my favorites, but they're very dark. I didn't think happy endings would be part of his repetoire. **SLIGHT SPOILER** Still, NB works partly as a fantasy and partly as a comment on the unreality of Hollywood. I mean, where else could Betty go and get accolades for "staying in character" rather than a straight jacket?

Sorry magic, but you must have been on something when you saw this. The comedy worked great in the film, and that was because all the actors were very strong. Ebert was right when he said you fully except this movie you need to understand that Freeman and Zellwegger are really the same character. Anyway while the film may not be one of the greats of all time it is certainly one of the year's best.

And she will not be seen in many movies very soon. If it wasn't for Rock's humor and Freeman's acting this movie would have gone straight to video. Face it folks this movie stinks. Laughs at you NDS. Yes, this movie sucks and I speak for the masses. Which says this is not a blockbuster. With all the talented actors in this film it should have drawn more than $55 million, especially in this weak weak field. It is not one of this year's best. And attack the post not the poster, NDS. But, if you like you can start thanking me by getting down on your knees. I think you are a chick or at least I hope so with that bitch nobody's talking to you attitude and eye rolling. At least you didn't defend Ebert. If you like it, good for you, I'm happy for you. I liked a lot of movies that a lot of people hated (Waterworld), but I don't think they are "delusional" because they don't share my opinion. You see, we here in America have those rights and I don't know how it is in Cananda, but you can keep your opinion of me and your high taxes to yourself. Remember attack the post not the poster. Great to see you like to use stereotypes too. As a matter of fact I hate hockey. Just because it wasn't a blockbuster by no means means it sucked. Nice to see your attitude towards women too do you ask all the women you meet to get down on there knees for you.
